Movers in Littleton, NH

Sterling Oakbridge movers help Littleton homes and businesses with local and interstate moves, packing, storage and specialist services. Share your addresses, dates and inventory so we can review the work and prepare your estimate.

01 /

Plan the entrance, the vehicle position and the receiving day

A Littleton move can involve a house with porch steps, an apartment near Main Street, a shared building or a property reached by a longer driveway. Begin with the actual entrance and the inventory. A short distance on a map does not describe the slope, stair turns or carrying route between the truck and the receiving room.

The town’s historic-resources chapter documents different building settings on Main, Cottage and West Main Streets. Use that context to choose what to inspect, then photograph the home itself. A renovated interior does not establish that its doorway or staircase can take a large piece of furniture.

Send both addresses, unit numbers, the belongings to move and usable dates. Identify who releases keys and who receives delivery. If the plan depends on a closing, a utility appointment or permission to use metered spaces, separate the requested arrangement from what has been confirmed.

Choose the help that matches the work

Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Interstate movingPickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when neededDestination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment

Designer and hotel furniture receivingReceiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed planExpected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site

Describe the result you need at each end: furniture placed in the new rooms, a selected group of items packed, a staged delivery or an agreed storage interval. Mark the possessions you will carry yourself and anything staying behind. This keeps the service discussion tied to the real inventory.

Coordinate a business move with the people reopening the space

For an office, shop or other commercial property, identify the person approving the move and the person controlling access at each building. Record the receiving entrance, loading position, security procedure and the rooms where items belong. A downtown shopfront may have a separate delivery door; an office suite may share its lift or corridor with other tenants.

Separate the physical move from technical shutdown and restart. Have your IT provider identify cables, equipment and network dependencies; ask the responsible specialist about any equipment that needs preparation beyond ordinary handling. List files, stock, fixtures and furniture by destination, and agree which group must be available first.

Give the estimator the permitted work window, not only the time the business closes. Arrange a receiver who can check the delivered inventory and authorize placement. If access changes, the decision-maker should be reachable before further handling or waiting is incurred.

IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.

We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Measure the complete carrying route

Walk from the proposed truck position to the final room. Count exterior and interior steps; photograph stair turns, door clearances, landings and any low ceiling. Include a detached garage, basement or attic in the inventory. For a deep lot, measure the driveway-to-door distance and identify whether the truck can enter and leave safely.

At a shared property, obtain written instructions for elevators, service doors, protective materials, keys and receiving hours. Ask whether other residents use the same lift and whether an attendant or building representative must be present. A lift reservation should identify the actual lift and usable time, including setup and clearing the route.

For a short window, discuss permitted preparation and delivery of materials beforehand. Do not plan to stack furniture in a corridor unless the responsible manager has approved a safe arrangement. Tell the estimator about unresolved restrictions while there is still time to change the sequence.

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which City or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

Request the actual spaces and confirm the loading conditions

The Littleton Police forms page provides a parking-permit request for Main Street and Porter Street metered spaces. The form and the town’s July 27, 2026 fee schedule state $25 per space per day. Describe the moving vehicle, proposed location, dates and number of spaces, then obtain approval before depending on that curb.

Ask Police who arranges any signs or meter treatment, when the area becomes reserved and whom to call if it remains occupied. The published request does not provide a general processing deadline or a complete sign-installation procedure. Confirm those details for the actual move; paying a meter is not a reservation.

If the vehicle or carrying operation affects a travel lane, public sidewalk or traffic control, ask Police and Public Works what additional authorization is needed. A separate outside-detail request has its own advance submission and payment conditions. The Littleton guide explains the forms, loading provisions and remaining questions in one place.

Agree a lawful alternative position and measure its carrying distance. Keep the approved location distinct from the entrance the building allows you to use.

Decide what is packed, by whom and when

Labor, materials and optional work

Item or taskHow it is charged
Basic furniture disassembly and reassemblyPart of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee
Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tapeNo separate charge for these basic protection materials
Boxes supplied for your moveCharged separately
PackingCharged for working time; boxes are separate
Unwrapping furniturePart of delivery
Unpacking the contents of boxesOptional work, charged for working time
Packaging and waste removalCharged separately
Complex furniture and other specialist workIndividually quoted after review

Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

Specialist services by individual quote

What needs attentionWork available for review
Complex furnitureBunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly
Heavy itemsPianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables
Art and collectionsFine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification
Hanging and installationPictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately
Business equipmentOffice furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route

Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

Identify dense contents, fragile pieces and items that need individual discussion. Books belong in small book cartons; a larger carton is not a useful way to reduce the number of boxes if it becomes too heavy to handle. Keep one clear packing task at a time, and label cartons by destination room and contents.

Set aside identification, closing documents, medicines, chargers and first-night essentials before work begins. Tell the estimator about unpacking or packaging removal you want included, so those tasks can be discussed with the rest of the scope.

Understand what the estimate is planning

Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total

Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.

A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.

Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price

For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

Two homes with similar floor areas can require different work. A direct driveway entrance differs from a third-floor walk-up reached from a distant curb. Inventory, stairs, carrying distance, packing, large-piece handling, access restrictions and the delivery plan all matter.

Send the same information for both ends and disclose any additional stop or storage need. Identify fees charged by a municipality or building separately from moving services, including who pays them. Ask how waiting, a changed inventory or a revised destination would affect the agreed scope. Resolve these questions before the move is underway.

Review the scope, dates and protection choices

Dedicated long-distance moving

Our dedicated long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and delivery, with the same moving crew at pickup and drop-off. Confirm the pickup, delivery and any storage stages in your move plan. The survey and move-planning team performs a separate role from the crew carrying out the move.

Use the estimate review to confirm the addresses, inventory, packing responsibilities, access assumptions and people receiving the shipment. Keep written changes with the moving documents. If the home is not ready, contact the mover before loading to discuss an achievable alternative.

For an interstate move, use the FMCSA consumer guidance to understand the documents and questions to ask. Review protection choices and disclose high-value items in advance. The terms of the selected arrangement, rather than an informal description of coverage, govern the shipment.

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Keep the driveway, steps and approved curb usable

For a winter move, assign responsibility for clearing the driveway, porch, steps and landing before arrival. Inspect the actual route for ice and snowbanks. A cleared street does not establish that the truck position or entrance is usable.

The current Traffic Ordinance prohibits parking on town ways from midnight to 5 a.m. between November 1 and April 15, with additional overnight restrictions on the specified Main Street segment. The town snow-piling rule also restricts moving private snow onto or across public roads and sidewalks. Confirm the conditions with the owner and the authority responsible for the proposed curb.

Rain, leaves and poor light can affect a carrying route outside winter too. Arrange the preparation around the condition of the property and the current forecast. Sterling Oakbridge’s experience is that summer and the end and beginning of a month are busier, with another increase around mid-month. This is company experience, not a measured Littleton demand forecast or a promise about price.

10 /

Keep the route, receiver and decisions clear

Before loading, walk the route with the crew, identify possessions staying behind and confirm the authorized truck position. Keep children, pets and visitors away from the carrying path. The person receiving the move should know the room names and where the major pieces belong.

If a sign is missing, the permitted area is occupied or a building entrance is unavailable, use the contact agreed in advance. Do not assume a driver can create an alternative by blocking an alley or sidewalk. Confirm any longer carry, revised window or other scope change with the authorized decision-maker.

At delivery, make the first usable rooms a priority within the agreed plan. Keep exits and utility access clear, check the inventory and record any concern while the relevant item can be inspected. Save the paperwork and receipts together. Arrange unwanted furniture and cartons through the appropriate disposal or agreed removal service, rather than leaving them in a common area.

Prepare the request and a practical fallback

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

Include photographs of both entrances and the largest pieces, the inventory, building instructions and proposed truck positions. Say what is confirmed and what depends on someone else's decision. A requested utility date or permit application is not yet confirmation.

For Plan B, name the trigger, decision time and person authorized to approve a change. Confirm a later access window, lawful alternative loading position or actual storage availability before relying on it. Account for extra handling or waiting, temporary arrangements for people and pets, and the condition needed to resume delivery. Bring these questions into the estimate discussion while the alternatives remain available.

Questions before you move

Can a truck use an empty Main Street parking space?

Only where the vehicle and loading activity are lawful. Ask Police about the metered-space permit for the actual location, obtain approval and confirm any signs or additional controls. An empty space or parking payment does not reserve it.

Does every parking request require 14 days?

The 14-day requirement appears on the separate outside police-detail form. The ordinary metered-space request does not publish a general processing deadline. Confirm the applicable procedure and timing with Police before choosing the loading plan.

Are basic furniture assembly and packing materials included?

Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.

Can you unpack boxes and remove the packaging?

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.

What should I show for a porch, driveway or upstairs apartment?

Photograph the full approach, steps, doors, stair turns and shared areas. Include the unit and floor, any slope and the distance from the proposed truck position. Show the largest pieces and the room where they will go.

Can I discuss an office or shop relocation?

Yes. Send the inventory, receiving rooms, access and security requirements, work window and the people responsible for shutdown and reopening. Identify specialist tasks separately.

What if the destination fails to release keys on time?

Contact the mover before loading when possible. Confirm a revised window or available storage, who can approve the change and the effect on handling and charges. A possible storage contact is not a confirmed reservation.

Does a Littleton mailing address establish city rules?

No. Confirm the property is inside the city and identify the road owner and utility providers. County or state responsibilities and private-building rules may differ.
