Movers in Dresden, OH
A garage shelf, a bookcase and the things set aside for another household can change the plan long before the truck arrives. Sterling Oakbridge helps organize your Dresden move around the belongings going, the route through each property and the work you want completed.
01 /
Make one clear list of what is going
Walk through the home, garage, shed and any separate storage. Identify what moves, what stays with the property and what has another destination. If relatives are collecting furniture, agree that handover before treating the space as clear.
Start the estimate with both addresses, preferred dates and this inventory. Describe the help you want: packing, loading, transportation, placement or a separate stage in storage. The Dresden relocation guide covers the household arrangements to make alongside the move.
02 /
Choose the help that fits your move
A few pieces going into an apartment and the contents of a house need different preparation. Tell us the actual items and destinations; room count helps describe the job, but it does not decide the crew or vehicle on its own.
Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.
| Moving help | What we can include | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Local residential moving | Loading, transport, delivery and basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Both addresses, inventory, dates and the route through each property |
| Interstate moving | Pickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when needed | Destination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment |
| Commercial moving | Office and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictions | Business type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect |
| Packing and unpacking | Selected-item or full packing, preparation before move day and optional box unpacking | What you will pack and what you want us to prepare |
| Storage and staged delivery | Storage between addresses and an agreed receiving and delivery plan | Expected dates, contents and anything you need to access during storage |
| Designer and hotel furniture receiving | Receiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed plan | Expected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site |
For a move with more than one stage, say what needs to remain accessible between collections and deliveries. Keep daily essentials out of the part of the shipment intended for storage.

Understand what the estimate includes
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.
The carrying route, packing work and sequence of stops matter alongside the amount being moved. A wide driveway does not remove the time needed to pack a bookcase or negotiate a turn inside the house.
Ask how waiting, a changed inventory or an additional delivery would be handled. Compare estimates for the same belongings, work and access arrangements, with boxes, specialist work and removal charges clearly identified.
04 /
Check the whole route, including an alternative entrance
Show the crew-planning team the approach from a possible truck position to the final room. Include gates, steps, door frames, turns, stairs and landings. A side passage can look convenient until its gate or a tight corner narrows the route.
Photograph the largest furniture with its dimensions and the full openings it must pass through. Agree use of a rear entrance or shared passage with the owner or manager. Ask before assuming a fence panel, door or fixture can be removed.
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

05 /
Agree the vehicle position before moving day
Review the street approach, driveway mouth, turning space and overhead clearance with us. Confirm private access with the property owner. If the plan uses a public street or affects other users, contact the village office to establish the responsible authority and any arrangements required for that location.
For properties using the village collection service, leave space for the waste and recycling carts. The published collection guidance calls for evening-before placement, with the two carts on opposite sides of the driveway. Account for them when agreeing the loading position.

06 /
Pack by task and keep the last-day essentials separate
Choose full packing or help with selected rooms or fragile pieces. Books belong in small book cartons; use a size you can handle rather than filling a large linen box with heavy books. Tell us about collections, glass, artwork or equipment needing separate review.
Mark cartons by destination room. Keep keys, documents, medication, chargers and a first-night bag with you, and point out cupboards or containers the crew should leave untouched.
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

Arrange disposal before it becomes a moving-day job
The Village of Dresden trash page lists one bulk item per week at no additional collection charge and requires plastic wrapping for mattresses and box springs. It also publishes size, weight and preparation limits. Confirm that the exact item qualifies with Win Waste before setting it outside.
Keep the disposal list distinct from the moving inventory. If you want Sterling Oakbridge to remove items or packaging as part of the job, identify the material and request that work in the estimate. Municipal collection and a separately booked removal service have different arrangements.
08 /
Plan the business handover around what must work first
For a shop, office or workshop, list the workstations, stock, shelves and equipment separately. Identify what must be usable first at the new address and which operations can pause while the rest is delivered.
Agree the delivery entrance, loading hours, shared access and receiving contact at both ends. Assign data backups, equipment shutdown and reconnection to the responsible people; discuss any specialist handling before the move is priced.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.
09 /
Keep a workable plan if the handover changes
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
Confirm the receiving contact and when the new property will actually be available. If a closing, tenancy handover or building appointment changes, tell us promptly. Discuss storage or another delivery arrangement, including the revised timing and charges, before the crew is waiting at a locked door.
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.
10 /
Choose dates with room for preparation
Our working experience across the service area is that summer and the end and beginning of the month are busier, with another increase around mid-month. Ask about your preferred date while the inventory and access plan are taking shape.
Check the forecast and responsibility for clearing the approach. Wet leaves, rain or winter conditions can change a route that looked straightforward during a viewing. Keep a backup handover arrangement for anything outside your control.
11 /
Clear the route and agree the first rooms
Before loading begins, walk the route with the crew lead and identify the protected areas, anything staying behind and any change since the survey. Keep children, pets and visitors away from the active carrying path.
At delivery, explain the room labels and where the larger pieces belong. Check that the entrance remains usable as cartons arrive; finishing one priority room can make the first evening easier while other rooms are still being unpacked.

12 /
Bring the details together for your estimate
Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
Send the inventory and access photographs together with the dates, destinations and work you want. Include any separate collection, storage stage or business deadline. We can then review one complete plan and clarify what still needs agreement.

Questions before you move
Can you arrange local and interstate moves involving Dresden?
Yes. Local and interstate moving, packing and storage are available. The plan depends on the inventory, work requested and conditions at both properties.
What should I photograph for a side entrance?
Show the complete approach, gate opening, turns, steps and doorway, then the route to the receiving rooms. Include dimensions for the largest pieces and any narrow opening.
Can the truck use my driveway or the street?
The position needs review for the actual vehicle and property. Agree private access with the owner and ask the relevant authority about a public-road position before relying on it.
Can you help with a small move or an extra stop?
Yes. List the individual items, destinations and timing. Staffing, access and any additional stop need to be included in the agreed scope.
Are basic materials and furniture assembly separate charges?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Can you unpack cartons and remove packaging?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
What if the new property is not ready for delivery?
Tell us as soon as the handover changes. Discuss storage or another delivery arrangement and agree any revised schedule and charges.
Can the village collect furniture I do not want to move?
The village lists a weekly bulk-item allowance with conditions. Confirm the particular item and its preparation with Win Waste; do not assume a whole move-out pile qualifies.
