Moving services in Arlington, Vermont
Build the move around what travels, how the vehicle and furniture reach each property, and when the destination is ready. Sterling Oakbridge can coordinate moving, packing and storage to an agreed written scope.

Tell us which Arlington and what will travel
Send the full pickup and delivery addresses, proposed dates and a room-by-room inventory, including attic, basement, garage and any storage stop. Identify belongings being sold or donated before they enter the shipment list. A furnished house and a few retained pieces need different staffing, packing and vehicle plans.
This page uses Arlington CDP in Bennington County, Vermont, Census GEOID 5001375. The surrounding Town of Arlington and the postal area are larger; an Arlington mailing address alone does not settle the route. Our Glens Falls moving-services page is an established regional reference, not an Arlington office. Ask for availability for your actual route and date.

Choose the work to include
Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

|---|---|---|
| Local residential moving | Loading, transport, delivery and basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Both addresses, inventory, dates and the route through each property |
| Interstate moving | Pickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when needed | Destination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment |
| Commercial moving | Office and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictions | Business type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect |
| Packing and unpacking | Selected-item or full packing, preparation before move day and optional box unpacking | What you will pack and what you want us to prepare |
| Storage and staged delivery | Storage between addresses and an agreed receiving and delivery plan | Expected dates, contents and anything you need to access during storage |
| Designer and hotel furniture receiving | Receiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed plan | Expected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site |
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
Specify whether belongings will be packed before collection, whether selected rooms need help, or whether packing should precede the main carrying day. Include a second property or storage stop at the outset. Assign appliance preparation, keys and receiving responsibilities so the shipment does not arrive ahead of the home.

Let the review identify time, vehicle and preparation
Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
Photograph the driveway entrance, standing area, steps, doors, turns and final receiving rooms. Include the narrowest usable opening, low branches, overhead clearances and any tight stair landing. List a heavy or delicate item by dimensions and construction, and explain which parts can be removed.
Mark unresolved details explicitly: a shared driveway, an uncertain key-release time or a door that has not been measured. Give us the property contact and hours imposed by the owner. The review should produce a workable plan before collection, with preparation or specialist work scheduled separately where needed.

Review Arlington road rules and the stopping position
The Town traffic ordinance identifies Routes 313, 7 and 7A as state-maintained highways with posted state limits. Town gravel roads have a published 25 mph limit. Let the driver review the actual route, current signs and conditions; a postal address or a line on the boundary map is not a truck-access assessment.
Warm Brook Road between the Route 7A and Route 313 rights of way is designated “NO THRU TRUCKS.” Section 8 says this does not prevent trucks serving properties adjacent to or accessed via the road. Give the exact delivery address to the planning team and check the intended approach with the responsible road authority when necessary. Do not use the delivery exception as a general shortcut.
Section 5 prohibits standing where it interferes with snow removal, fire equipment or passing vehicles. Section 7 prohibits vehicles on town-owned or maintained sidewalks and curbs, and material that blocks pedestrian travel. Ask the Town about the exact street position, vehicle, date and any traffic restriction; ask the state authority when its highway is involved. If a lawful public position is unsuitable, arrange an owner-approved private position and review the carry distance, surface and turning space before departure.

Prepare the route from vehicle to room
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.
Confirm which entrance the owner permits, every step and turn, and whether a shared hall or driveway will remain available for the planned window. Keep pedestrians and emergency exits clear. A side door, lawn or neighboring driveway is usable only after permission and a safe handling review.
Measure large furniture against the complete carry route. Share photographs of delicate trim, floors and rails so protection can be planned. If an item cannot pass, agree disassembly or another reviewed method; do not create an improvised opening. The Town’s published right-of-way ordinance concerns construction, excavation and tree work. It is not a general moving-truck permit; ask the Highway Department if access changes would involve that work.

Finish packing before the carrying window
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.
Separate medication, identification, keys, private records, chargers and first-night belongings before packing starts. Label cartons by room and contents. Pack dense books in small manageable book cartons, and keep fragile categories together with appropriate cushioning. Set aside liquids or restricted materials for a separate agreed plan.
For partial packing, write down the rooms and categories we handle and those you finish. Leave kitchen contents clean and dry, and keep daily essentials out until departure. Confirm appliance draining, disconnection and readiness with the relevant professional; transport does not automatically include reconnection. Materials or advance packing may be arranged when the property permits access.

Review difficult furniture and specialist items early
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.
Provide close photographs, dimensions and approximate weight where known for a piano, safe, large wardrobe, art collection or heavy business equipment. Describe the exact operation: removal, transport, assembly or installation. Include both properties’ stairs, thresholds and floor conditions, and any requirement imposed by the building.
Keep specialist responsibilities and prerequisites in the written scope. Electrical, plumbing and IT startup need their own responsible parties. A general moving estimate does not establish that a particular installation or structural alteration is included.

Understand the basis of the written estimate
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.
Before accepting the plan, compare the same inventory, packing responsibilities, access conditions and receiving date. Record separately charged boxes, specialist operations, removal and any agreed storage stages. Notify the planning team before adding belongings or changing access so the effect on time and price can be reviewed.
09 /
Set a readiness deadline and a practical fallback
Arrange the shipment before the last day of the lease or the closing window. Ask about your preferred date early, especially when the available receiving window is narrow. Confirm the key-release condition with the landlord, seller or responsible representative rather than assuming a proposed closing time guarantees access.
Choose a decision deadline before collection: who checks readiness, who can authorize a changed delivery, and which delay or storage arrangement is available if keys, heat, safe access or essential repairs are missing. Keep overnight belongings with you. Call before the truck departs when readiness changes; a reviewed change is easier to manage than an improvised stop with a loaded vehicle.
10 /
Plan collection and later delivery as connected stages
Storage can bridge an agreed gap between collection and delivery. Ask the planning team to review the shipment, timing and eventual receiving conditions.
State the likely storage period, what you may need access to, and the conditions for final delivery. Agree how the belongings are recorded, what protection applies during each stage and how a changed receiving date affects the plan. Keep items needed immediately outside the stored load.
For a renovation or downsize, decide which rooms can receive belongings and measure retained furniture before it travels. A storage interval does not resolve an unsuitable doorway or unfinished room; review the eventual receiving route as well.

Coordinate a business move around reopening
For an office or small business, divide the inventory into furniture, files, IT equipment and any specialist machinery. Identify desks or systems requiring disassembly, sensitive records and items that must travel in a particular order. Give the property manager’s access instructions and set a receiving contact who can direct room placement.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.
Your IT team should own reconnection, testing and startup. Confirm power, connectivity and equipment readiness at the destination before committing to a reopening date. Check a proposed business use or alterations with the Town’s Land Use Administrator separately from the moving shipment.
12 /
Complete delivery and review the agreed work
Have one receiving contact available and a simple room plan prepared. Check the entrance and carry route before unloading, direct placement and identify any discrepancy promptly through the agreed process. Finish the walk-through while the crew and shipment information are available.
For schools, home systems, everyday travel and waste arrangements, use the Arlington relocation guide. Send the shipment details through our quote form once the address and readiness questions are settled.

Questions before you move
Does Arlington on the map mean the whole town?
No. The map uses Arlington CDP, GEOID 5001375. Town, postal and service boundaries differ. Give the full address for route and jurisdiction checks.
Can a delivery truck use Warm Brook Road?
The Town ordinance designates the specified segment NO THRU TRUCKS but preserves service to adjacent properties or properties accessed via the road. The actual route, signs, vehicle and standing position still need review.
Can the truck stand on a sidewalk?
The Town ordinance prohibits parking or driving on its owned or maintained sidewalks and curbs, and placing material that blocks pedestrian travel. Arrange a permitted position and keep the route clear.
Is a local estimate a fixed total?
Most local moves are hourly. Estimated hours plan the work; they are not a maximum charge or a completion promise. The written terms identify the hourly basis, any minimum and separate charges.
What is included in basic furniture work?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Can you unpack after delivery?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
What if the keys are delayed?
Tell the planning team before collection. Agree a readiness deadline and an available delay or storage plan, with a responsible contact and revised delivery conditions in writing.
Do you have an Arlington office?
The regional reference page does not establish an Arlington office. Request service availability for your exact addresses, route, work and date.
