The city’s solid-waste, green-waste and recycling guidelines effective March 23, 2026 allow three trash receptacles up to 32 gallons each per household unit, with garbage bagged inside the receptacles. Flatten cardboard for the blue city recycling bin or another reusable container. Collection starts at 7 a.m.; set out on the previous evening or before 7 a.m. on the assigned day.
The city links a street collection-day sheet with Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes, including split street segments. Confirm the actual address and current day with DPW, 315-574-5245, rather than assign a day from a street name alone. One bulk household item may go out each week on the regular day if two employees can safely lift it; construction debris and contractor-generated waste require a private hauler.
Current yard-waste collection is on the second Tuesday from April through October, with material between sidewalk and road, not in the road. Bundle branches no longer than five feet, exclude plastic pots, and keep the pile at or below 3 by 3 by 3 feet. The current guidelines list resident drop-off at 367 Loomis Street Extension, Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Older linked instructions list different yard-season and opening details; use the 2026 guidance and confirm before going.
Hazardous waste and tires are not ordinary curbside items. Arrange disposal with DPW or the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, 315-733-1224, for the actual material and date. Annual November electronics dates are announced separately; a 2025 calendar is not a current pickup booking.
