Moving services in Girard, Ohio
Connect the shipment, both properties and a confirmed receiving window. Sterling Oakbridge can review preparation, carrying, transport and delivery once the contents, work and access are agreed.

Give the Girard move a workable receiving plan
A Girard move starts with two properties and the belongings that need to travel between them. Send Sterling Oakbridge both full addresses, unit numbers, proposed dates and the person who will authorize entry. We can review a household shipment, selected packing, a business relocation or delivery that needs an intermediate storage stage.
This page concerns Girard city, Ohio, in Trumbull County. Use the actual address for planning: the Girard mailing name can also appear outside the city boundary. For a move involving Akron, see our Akron moving services. For choosing a home and connecting local services, see the separate Girard living guide.

Build one inventory and access brief
Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
List the rooms and the contents of any basement, detached garage, attic or storage unit. Identify what stays behind, what will be donated and what you will transport yourself. Add large furniture dimensions, photographs of specialist items and any unusually fragile collection. Tell us which cartons will already be packed and which rooms you want the company to prepare.
For each address, show the proposed vehicle position and the continuous route to the rooms: carrying distance, exterior steps, door openings, landings, stair turns and overhead clearance. A basement inventory needs the basement stair, not just a front-door photograph. Send the same brief to the move-planning team as it changes; one agreed version helps avoid discovering an extra stop, added packing or a restricted entrance after loading.
04 /
Include the basement and every change of level
Follow the carrying route from the standing place to the final room. An older detached house can have a comfortable main entrance and a much tighter basement stair. Check the bottom landing, headroom, rail position, door swing and whether large pieces can turn without reaching into a utility area. A visible side entrance may belong to a different route or require a key.
Share wide route photographs and item dimensions for review. Let the planning team determine the handling method; a room that fits the furniture does not by itself establish that the item fits through the stairs. Separate any item needing specialist preparation before confirming the work. Keep household members, children and pets away from the route during carrying.
For managed apartments or rented houses, obtain the owner’s instructions about entry, shared spaces, work hours and protection. Confirm the person who can open the property and receive the shipment. An unlocked door on a viewing day does not reserve access for a moving crew.

05 /
Agree a standing place and a fallback
Start with a physically suitable private driveway or receiving lot and the owner’s permission. Show the entry, surface, slope, overhead branches, working length and exit. For a business site, identify the receiving door and how vehicles approach it. A driveway that suits a passenger car may still be unsuitable for the assigned moving vehicle.
For a public-space position, confirm the road owner and ask about the specific vehicle, location, date and duration. The City directory provides the local departments and Police contact; it does not grant curb permission. Check actual signs and keep driveways, hydrants, corners and pedestrian routes clear. The company can review coordination needs as part of the agreed scope.
Name a second workable position before the day. If the first place is occupied or unavailable, tell the crew and planning team; an alternate standing place may change carrying distance or time. Use ODOT’s OHGO for current restrictions and incidents, and have the actual commercial vehicle route reviewed. A phone’s passenger-car route is not a truck-access approval.

Make packing ready for the carrying window
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.
Choose full packing, selected rooms or a few fragile items and identify what you will finish yourself. Keep dense contents in suitable small cartons and lighter linens in appropriately sized cartons. Close, label and stage owner-packed boxes without blocking the walking route. Set aside documents, keys, medication and the first-night bag before the packers start.
For a preparation day, confirm early access, where materials will be received and which rooms can be worked in. Show wardrobes, shelving, collections and the items you expect to use until departure. Appliances, utilities and specialist pieces need their own agreed preparation; putting an item on the inventory does not settle every disconnection or installation task.

07 /
Receive the shipment room by room
Agree a room naming plan and have the receiving person available when the crew arrives. Make the route usable, identify where large pieces belong and decide what must be accessible first: beds, basic seating, work equipment or items for a family member with limited mobility. Keep one area for unopened cartons so the living route remains clear.
Furniture unwrapping is part of delivery. Optional removal of contents from boxes and packaging removal are separate choices, so include them in the scope if needed. Report an access change before the crew starts the affected operation. Inspect the delivery with the responsible person and follow the actual moving documents for any concern or claim.

08 /
Prepare for keys, inspections or connections to slip
For a Girard rental, ask the landlord about the occupancy change before treating the lease date as the receiving date. The published rental inspection section calls for landlord notification and inspection when occupancy changes; Rental and Zoning warns that additional ordinances may apply. Confirm the current requirements and status for that unit directly, and keep the landlord’s reply with your move plan.
Choose who will notify the company if keys, clearance or the receiving window change. Discuss storage, the additional handling and later delivery as distinct stages, with availability and terms agreed. Keep essentials and anything you need during the gap outside the shipment. A change to possession should reach the planning team before the truck is committed to an unavailable receiving property.

Coordinate both ends of an interstate move
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
Share the destination’s access conditions as carefully as the Girard pickup: building hours, stairs, loading place and the contact who accepts delivery. Identify firm dates and dates that still depend on closing, a landlord or another contractor. Include any storage stage and what you need to access during it.
Keep the shipment and packing responsibilities in writing. If belongings, access or service requirements change, have the affected scope reviewed before that work begins. A dedicated delivery still needs a ready receiving address and an agreed operating plan.

Review large pieces and specialist operations
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.
For a piano, safe, pool table, artwork, complex furniture or business equipment, send the dimensions, make or model, weight if known and photographs of the complete route. Explain the operation you want: preparation, transport, assembly or installation. Each can involve a different method and responsibility.
Check narrow basement turns and stair headroom before deciding an item will be stored downstairs. Discuss an alternate room if the preferred route is unsuitable. The item, requested work and property determine the feasible method and individual quotation.

Give the office or shop a receiving sequence
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.
For a Girard office or small business, identify the site manager, permitted work window, receiving contact and equipment that must stay available. Mark workstations and files by destination. Discuss phased work if the business will operate during the move, with the sequence, staffing and timing agreed in advance.
For furniture receiving, provide shipment dates, piece counts, storage needs and the final room plan. Confirm the property’s truck space and door geometry rather than assuming the delivery area is available to every vehicle. Assign IT reconnection and startup to the responsible staff or provider. Construction, occupancy and trade approvals remain separate from moving coordination.

Understand the quotation and protection choices
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Separate unwanted furniture from packing waste
Decide what will leave through the moving shipment and what needs another disposal route. Girard’s garbage page directs bulk-item arrangements to Republic Services and describes a recycling drop-off behind the Police Department. Check accepted materials, hours and preparation before taking packing waste there.
The City’s waste FAQ distinguishes separate Republic billing and special pickup charges for furniture and larger items. Do not schedule the move around an unconfirmed curb collection. Company packaging removal is separately charged; include it in the request if you want that work rather than arranging eligible household recycling yourself.

Questions before you move
What do you need to estimate a Girard move?
Send both addresses, proposed dates, inventory, packing choices and access at each property. Include basement or garage contents and specialist items. The move-planning team chooses whether a list, video or visit is appropriate.
Are basic furniture work and cartons included?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Can you unpack and remove packaging?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
What if the rental is not ready when the truck arrives?
Tell the planning team before the affected work begins. Confirm occupancy and keys with the landlord and City where applicable, and discuss storage, additional handling and later delivery as separately agreed stages.
Does the City website reserve a curb position?
A department link does not establish permission. Confirm the road owner, actual signs and the specific vehicle position; obtain the property owner’s permission for private space and agree a workable fallback.
Can you handle a business move or specialist item?
Send the equipment or item details, access and operating requirements for review. We can quote the approved available work to an agreed scope. IT reconnection belongs with your IT team; crane work is outside the service scope.
Is a quoted number of hours a completion promise?
Most local moves are hourly. Estimated and minimum hours help plan the work and are not a maximum charge or completion guarantee. Changed contents, access, packing or timing should be reviewed against the written terms.
