Movers in Tallmadge, OH
Sterling Oakbridge movers help Tallmadge homes, townhomes and businesses with local and interstate moves, packing, storage and specialist services. Share your addresses, dates and inventory so we can review the work and prepare your estimate.
01 /
Start with the route and the work you need
Tallmadge is an incorporated Ohio city on Akron’s northeast side. Your move may involve a house, an apartment, a business or an interstate shipment. Tell us both addresses, your dates and the rooms and belongings actually included, and we will plan the work around that scope.
The city’s Rumpke arrangement matters when clearing out: residents set up the account, carts are issued and bulk items are included subject to advance arrangements and preparation. Plan the cleanout against your confirmed service day. The Tallmadge relocation guide covers housing, utilities, school registration and city procedures; this page covers the move itself.

Choose the moving help you need
Choose the moving help you need: a local move, some or all packing, storage between a sale and a closing, specialist care for a fragile piece or a long-distance shipment. Each is a different scope, so the estimate starts from your actual belongings, addresses and timing.
If the move has stages — for example, a home into storage and later delivery to another state — describe them at the start so handling, availability and pricing can be reviewed together.
Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.
| Moving help | What we can include | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Local residential moving | Loading, transport, delivery and basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Both addresses, inventory, dates and the route through each property |
| Interstate moving | Pickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when needed | Destination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment |
| Commercial moving | Office and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictions | Business type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect |
| Packing and unpacking | Selected-item or full packing, preparation before move day and optional box unpacking | What you will pack and what you want us to prepare |
| Storage and staged delivery | Storage between addresses and an agreed receiving and delivery plan | Expected dates, contents and anything you need to access during storage |
| Designer and hotel furniture receiving | Receiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed plan | Expected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site |

Plan a Tallmadge business move around your hours
Plan a business move around the actual premises, inventory and operating hours. An office, shop or warehouse may require different access, equipment handling and priorities; send the receiving address and building restrictions with the inventory.
Identify the downtime window you can allow and which equipment and rooms must be usable first. Include workstations, shelving, access at both ends and any staged delivery in the review.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Plan the carry from the truck to the room
Measure the largest pieces against the actual entry opening, hall turns and any stairs. A single-story layout does not establish a level carrying route from the vehicle, and an apartment’s access depends on its own shared entry, floor and loading arrangement. Photograph the route and list the rooms and storage spaces that actually exist.
Check the proposed vehicle position, surface, slope, turning space and connected carrying route. In rentals, obtain the landlord’s written move windows, vehicle rules and floor-protection requirements before the day.
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

05 /
Confirm the actual vehicle position and restrictions
Review the proposed position with the owner or landlord and moving team: actual permission, surface, width, overhead clearance, turning space and a connected carrying route for the assigned vehicle. A driveway photograph does not establish that a truck fits or may use it. For a street position, reservation or container, ask the city about the exact address, vehicle and date; Street Department is at 330-633-5130 for practical street questions.
The city’s snow-emergency guidance prohibits parking on all city streets during a snow emergency and describes the two-inch snowfall rule. Check active restrictions before a winter move. Keep collection carts and the carrying route usable; the city says carts belong behind the curb or at the mouth of the driveway, not in the street.
Arrange bulk pickup with Rumpke before the regular service day. The guide’s parking section helps prepare the address check.

06 /
Choose packing, furniture preparation and specialist care
Packing help scales from a few fragile cartons to a full pack. A kitchen, any stored basement goods and garage gear need different preparation — tell us which spaces are in scope so the materials match the work: books in small book boxes, wardrobes for closet contents, divided cartons for dishes.
The city's contract rewards a planned cleanout: the weekly carts for the household stream, and the free bulk items — arranged with Rumpke ahead of the service day, mattresses wrapped in plastic — for the furniture-scale remainder. Packing the "keep" list first and completely, and staging the "go" list across the weeks, is the difference between a clean move-out and a scramble.
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

What affects your Tallmadge moving cost
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.
Locally, the practical cost drivers in Tallmadge are access and volume. A colonial with a finished basement is a different job from a townhome; a long carry from a worked-out position lengthens every trip. The packing level you choose, disassembly, and any storage stage each change the total. The estimate reflects the work you describe — accurate floors, stairs and a real inventory make it accurate.
Disposal is a calendar question here: the weekly carts, the bulk items by appointment. A cleanout planned across them is an errand, not a scramble.

From the first conversation to placement
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
The review starts with your two addresses, dates and inventory. Before moving day we confirm the scope in writing: what is packed by whom, the access plan at both ends, where the truck stands, and the timing windows, including the backup plan if a closing or a storm moves the date.
When the day comes, the crew works the confirmed scope: protect the route, load in the agreed order, place room by room at the destination, and reassemble what was disassembled for the route.
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Plan around the school calendar and the leaf pickup
Check moving availability early if a handover depends on a school break or closing, and agree a response to a changed date. The 2026 city leaf collection starts November 9 and is planned for about eight weeks across four quadrants, with at least two visits to each. Confirm the current instructions and schedule for the actual street; do not assume the launch date is your pickup day.
Read the 2026 trash and recycling holiday schedule for the week involved: not every holiday changes collection. Prepare the winter carrying route and check snow-emergency parking before the vehicle arrives. Keep the estimate, date alternative and cleanout arrangements together.
10 /
Prepare for the day you actually booked
Before the crew arrives, keep the confirmed vehicle position and carrying route clear so doors and any deployed ramp have room — and on collection day, keep the curb working for the carts. Inside, clear the main walking route and set aside the items that travel with you — documents, medications, chargers, the kettle. In a shared building, confirm the hall window and give the neighbors the heads-up.
At the house, walk the route with the crew lead before the first carry: which entrance, which stairs, where the staging area is. If wheeled equipment is part of the confirmed plan, keep the route usable and let the crew choose equipment for the actual item, surface and turns. If something changes mid-day — weather, a delayed key handover — say it early; the plan adjusts better in the morning than in the afternoon.

Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
The more concrete the request, the more useful the answer: both addresses, preferred dates plus an alternative, the inventory or a room-by-room outline (basement and garage included), the entry and any tight turns, packing expectations, and anything fragile or oversized. Photos of the largest pieces, the driveway and the stairs help us price the actual work. For an interstate shipment, ask for the carrier's legal operating name and written terms; the federal Protect Your Move checklist explains what interstate movers must provide.

Questions before you move
Can I book a move entirely within Tallmadge?
Send both Tallmadge addresses, your dates, inventory and access details so we can review the local work, availability and crew required. Include packing, storage or any staged delivery in the request.
How do I set up trash service as a new resident?
Call Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171 — under the city's contract, the resident opens the account. The setup includes a 95-gallon trash cart and a 65-gallon recycling cart, billed quarterly (the city publishes the rate schedule through 2030). Cancel the same way when moving out.
How do I get rid of large items?
Bulk items are included free in the service — contact Rumpke before your regular service day to arrange them. Mattresses and furniture go out wrapped in plastic; bundled materials stay under four feet, 18 inches and 50 pounds; freon appliances are professionally emptied and tagged first.
Who provides water and sewer in Tallmadge?
The Utilities Department explains city water distribution and two sewer arrangements: District I is city-maintained with treatment in Akron, while District II uses the county-owned Fish Creek plant and is billed by the city. Some homes use septic systems. Confirm the property’s actual arrangement at 330-633-0851. The new-customer instructions require a call, ownership documents and a signed contract; in rentals, the owner remains responsible for the city bill.
Where do Tallmadge children go to school?
Use Tallmadge City Schools’ current registration and confirm the address, assigned school, transportation and program with the registrar, 330-633-3291 ext. 3194. New families submit pre-registration and documents through FinalForms, then wait for approval. A nearby campus or an older grade listing does not determine a child’s placement.
How is the price of a Tallmadge move set?
Local moves are priced on the labor and time the work needs — volume, access (stairs, entries, the carry from the truck), packing level and any storage stage all shape it. Long-distance shipments carry an agreed price that holds while the shipment and scope stay as agreed. The estimate reflects the detail you give us.
Are basic furniture assembly and packing materials included?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Can you unpack boxes and remove the packaging?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
