Movers in Bethlehem, PA

Move your Bethlehem belongings with a clear preparation, access and receiving plan. Sterling Oakbridge helps you choose the moving, packing and storage work your household or business needs.

01 /

Choose the help and the rooms you want ready

Sterling Oakbridge provides moving, packing and storage for Bethlehem households and businesses. You can request a complete move or hand over selected work, such as packing fragile cupboards, transporting furniture or delivering goods after a gap between homes. Tell us the result you need at the receiving address, including any optional unpacking.

Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Designer and hotel furniture receivingReceiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed planExpected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site

Begin with the contents of every occupied and storage level. An upper room used for work, a full basement and kitchen cupboards all add preparation and handling that a bedroom count misses. Separate the goods that are going from items staying at the property or going to another recipient.

Give both complete addresses and the actual municipalities. A Bethlehem mailing address can refer to a property outside the City; Bethlehem Township and Fountain Hill have their own procedures. The City rules below apply to City addresses. Include Pennsylvania when identifying Bethlehem to the planning team.

Connect the truck position to the final room

Show the whole carrying route in one connected video: the proposed vehicle position, sidewalk, outside steps or slope, entrance and inner doors, each stair or lift, landings, corridors and final room. Add close photographs and dimensions of tight points. A wide front door does not settle a turn immediately inside it.

For an attached home with a room on the third floor, include the final stair flight and its landing as well as the main entrance. For basement contents, show headroom, the bottom turn and the route back to the outside. Measure the protected furniture and the limiting opening or turn; allow working room for the people handling it.

A controlled building entrance needs somebody authorized to admit the crew. Where a lift is used, identify every lift on the route, cabin and door sizes, shared use, transfers and the final corridor. Record the accepted moving period and the person who can open the approved entrance. Access to the floor and permission to use a particular route are separate parts of the plan.

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

Include the outside stair, level porch and turn to the entrance in the access review.

Arrange the City household-goods permit

The City's Article 309 requires a Treasurer's permit before household goods in bulk are moved into, out of or within Bethlehem City. Its application identifies the applicant, goods' owners and both addresses; the published fee is $20. The current permit directory lists moving enquiries at 610-865-7125.

Assign the application and retain the issued permit with the move plan. Reserving a loading space is a separate task. Send the planning team the address, work dates and confirmations already obtained so the household permit, street position and building arrangements describe the same move.

04 /

Reserve the actual street space and working length

The Bethlehem Parking Authority reservation program covers moving trucks in paid on-street and Residential Permit Parking zones. Give the exact side, address, dates and meter or zone identifiers. BPA validates the zone before approval. Requests require two business days' notice; after 2:00 p.m., that period starts the next business day. Pay all charges before service.

The BPA FAQ lists meter bagging at $25 per meter per day and no-parking signs at $10 per day. Identify the quantity and arrangement before paying. For a pay-station zone, the reservation form uses 22 feet per space to calculate the number requested. Compare the actual vehicle and working area with the accepted space.

Keep approvals available to the customer and crew, and agree who handles a problem on arrival. A request or ordinary meter payment does not establish an accepted reservation. The property manager separately approves building entry, any private loading area and its permitted period.

Article 531.04 contains vehicle-specific parking restrictions and an exception for household-goods moving with the previously issued Article 309.01 permit. Have the actual vehicle and position reviewed together; a trailer, a box truck and a passenger car cannot simply be treated as the same arrangement.

Review the actual street length and preserve the connected sidewalk before arranging a loading position.

05 /

Keep a usable alternative before the carrying window closes

Consider an apartment move using a reserved position and a timed building entrance. If the requested space has not been approved, the customer representative and planning team need a decision before dispatch. A different lawful position may work after its carrying distance, steps and timing are reviewed. A later accepted slot may be the better choice when the alternative would consume the building's remaining access period.

Name the person who can approve the changed work and any extra charge. Keep the accepted alternative and the person opening the entrance in the move plan. Do the same review at the destination: a completed pickup cannot create receiving access that has not been released.

If keys or a building approval are still uncertain, set a decision deadline early enough to retain a real alternative. Confirm storage capacity, receiving hours and the later release arrangement before relying on storage. Keep household essentials out of that shipment and identify where the people will stay if the move is split.

06 /

Prepare the shipment around the household still using it

Full packing covers the retained contents included in the plan. Partial or fragile-only work needs a named list of rooms, cupboards and objects, together with the packing you will finish yourself. Show closed storage as well as the main rooms. Books, bedding and glass require different preparation and carton choices.

Imagine a household using a third-floor room for work until the last afternoon. Earlier preparation can cover basement storage and spare-room belongings, while the working equipment, documents and charger stay accessible. Assign the final shutdown and packing pass explicitly, so those items are ready when loading begins. Agree where prepared cartons can wait without blocking the stairs or daily route.

Use destination, floor, room and contents on labels, with a carton number and priority where helpful. Distinguish goods going into agreed storage from the first delivery. At the receiving home, choose the cartons and suitable surfaces for optional unpacking; putting belongings into their final cupboards is a separate organizing choice.

Labor, materials and optional work

Unwrapping furniturePart of delivery
Unpacking the contents of boxesOptional work, charged for working time

Complex furniture and other specialist workIndividually quoted after review

Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

07 /

Protect the item and agree the method before carrying

Send photographs, dimensions, construction and existing condition for large or sensitive pieces. Include the item’s route at both ends and any make or model information that helps establish how it comes apart. A sofa that arrived in sections, or a wardrobe assembled upstairs, may need that preparation again before departure.

Empty ordinary drawers and keep fittings associated with the correct piece. Secure the agreed protective layers before carrying. Describe whether you want transport only, basic assembly or a separately quoted finishing task, with the permissions and hardware that task needs.

Specialist services by individual quote

What needs attentionWork available for review
Complex furnitureBunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly
Heavy itemsPianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables
Art and collectionsFine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification
Hanging and installationPictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately
Business equipmentOffice furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route

Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

The City's historic-district guidance describes review of exterior changes in designated districts. Permission to move furniture does not authorize altering an entrance or railing. If an item cannot follow the existing route, agree a permitted method or suitable alternative before work begins. Crane work is outside Sterling Oakbridge's service scope.

Sequence business goods around release and receiving

For an office, shop or furnished project, list the equipment and furniture by the receiving area and the order in which they can be released. Name authorized contacts at both addresses. Include shared entrances, security, permitted hours, elevator arrangements and any labor-access requirements from management.

A small office may need its computers available after the furniture is packed, or a shop may need a later collection after trading ends. Agree those stages rather than infer unrestricted loading from a business address. Show supplier deliveries, furniture systems and unusual equipment separately so the planning team can identify the preparation and executor needed.

IT transport and disconnection are available. Your IT team owns reconnection, testing and system startup. Schedule its work around the accepted receiving arrangement and keep essential access credentials with the authorized business contact. Physical delivery does not establish operational readiness.

09 /

Compare the complete written scope and applicable pricing

For household-goods transport within Pennsylvania, PUC tariff guidance uses hourly charges for 40 miles or less and weight-and-mileage charges above 40 miles. A longer journey staying in Pennsylvania is still an in-state move. Identify the route and applicable basis in the estimate.

Pennsylvania Code §31.122 requires the estimate at least 48 hours before the move unless the shipper agrees in writing to shorter notice. Include the applicable charges and protection selection. An urgent household move needs the appropriate shorter-notice agreement rather than an assumption that the deadline disappears.

For an hourly job, estimated or minimum hours help plan the work; they do not cap the final charge. An added cupboard, unfinished cartons, lift sharing or a longer carry can change working time. Compare the same inventory, materials, access and receiving tasks when comparing estimates.

For an interstate move quoted at a flat rate, the same agreed shipment and service scope retain the agreed price. Added contents or changed work need a revised written scope and price before the affected work. Keep municipal charges, company-supplied boxes, specialist work and any extra visits visible in the comparison.

10 /

Choose delivery around the person who can receive it

Give the destination contact, usable key-release time and permitted receiving period before selecting the delivery arrangement. A lease commencement or closing date may precede the moment somebody can admit the crew. Review travel and both properties' working periods together.

Direct and consolidated long-distance moving

Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.

Imagine a household whose belongings must leave on one day but whose new address is not released until later. Confirm the accepted storage and redelivery stages, identify goods needed during the gap and keep medicines, identity documents, daily work equipment and overnight supplies with the household. Assign the receiving contact and the event that releases the next stage.

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

11 /

Plan the confirmations and winter access before the date

Offer several practical dates and compare the household's commitments with the two addresses' accepted access periods. Time for the City permit, BPA reservation and building decisions belongs before dispatch. Earlier materials or packing can help a short carrying period when the property permits that preparation access.

The City's snow FAQ says a declared snow emergency takes effect four hours after declaration; neighboring municipalities may declare at different times. It also requires adjoining owners, controllers or occupants to clear a three-foot sidewalk path within 24 hours after precipitation ends. A heavy item's actual route can require more space than that minimum.

Check the current declaration and route before travel, with snow or ice clearance at both ends assigned to someone. If the route or receiving contact is unavailable, use the pre-agreed deadline to choose an accepted later slot, reviewed alternative or confirmed storage. Approve the resulting work and charges, tell both contacts and resume delivery once usable access is confirmed.

12 /

Send what you know and identify what still needs approval

Start with both full addresses, date options, an inventory and the help you want. Add photographs of large pieces, cupboards and stored contents, plus a connected route video. Include building instructions, the proposed street position and approvals already received. Mark a request still awaiting a reply as a request.

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

The review should leave you with the chosen services, preparation sequence, workable carrying route, access responsibilities and receiving arrangement in writing. You can start that conversation before collecting every measurement.

Questions before you move

What moving help is available in Bethlehem, PA?

Moving, packing, storage and business moving are available, with specialist handling individually reviewed. Choose a complete move or selected work and send both addresses, the actual contents and date options. Include the receiving tasks you want finished.

Do I need a permit to move household goods in Bethlehem City?

Yes. Article 309 requires a City Treasurer permit before household goods in bulk move into, out of or within the City. It lists a $20 fee. Identify the applicant, owners and both addresses; assign the application and keep the issued permit with the plan.

Does that household permit reserve a street space?

No. The BPA reservation program is the separate route for paid on-street and Residential Permit Parking zones. Give the location, date and required space, obtain approval and pay before service. Building entry is agreed separately.

How early should I request BPA spaces?

Allow two business days under the reservation rules. A request received after 2:00 p.m. starts that notice period on the next business day. A late request does not establish approval; review a lawful alternative or accepted later arrangement with the planning team.

What do meter bags and no-parking signs cost?

The BPA FAQ lists $25 per meter per day and $10 per day for no-parking signs. The reservation form asks for quantity and dates, and charges must be paid before service. Confirm the selected arrangement and total with BPA.

Does a 22-foot space mean my moving truck will fit?

No. The BPA pay-station form uses 22 feet as a planning unit for the number of spaces requested. Compare the actual truck, doors, equipment and carrying access with the accepted working area. Keep pedestrian and emergency routes usable.

What if the reserved or intended position is unavailable?

Use the reviewed lawful alternative only after the authorized customer representative accepts its additional carry, time and charges. If it cannot fit the building period, obtain an accepted later arrangement before proceeding. Set that decision deadline before dispatch whenever the problem is known.

What should I show for an upper-floor or basement move?

Show the connected route from the proposed vehicle position through every door, stair flight, landing or lift to the final room. Include basement headroom, upper turns and protected-item dimensions. Name the contact who can open any controlled entrance and record the accepted period.

Can the crew alter a railing if furniture does not fit?

An alteration needs its own permitted method and owner approval; it is not assumed in a furniture move. Review the item, existing route and alternatives first. In designated Bethlehem historic districts, exterior changes also have the City review described in its historic-district guidance. Crane work is outside our scope.

Can packing happen before moving day?

Yes, when the property permits that access. Agree the contents available for preparation, a clear place for completed cartons and the final-use items that stay with the household. Name who finishes the last packing pass. Packing uses working time and supplied cartons are separate.

Are basic assembly and protection materials separate charges?

Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.

Can you unpack boxes and remove empty materials?

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.

How is a move staying within Pennsylvania priced?

PUC guidance uses hourly tariff charges at 40 miles or less and weight-and-mileage above 40 miles for in-state household-goods transport. The estimate rule requires 48 hours’ notice unless the shipper agrees in writing to less. Reflect the actual route and work in the estimate.

Does an hourly estimate or interstate flat rate guarantee the same thing?

They describe different pricing arrangements. Estimated or minimum hours do not cap an hourly job. An agreed interstate flat rate stays the same for the same shipment and service scope; additions or changed work need a revised written scope and price.

What if keys, winter access or the receiving period are delayed?

Use the agreed decision deadline and authorized contacts to select an accepted later slot, reviewed route or confirmed storage. Approve the extra work and charges, keep daily essentials with the household and identify where people will stay. Resume delivery when usable receiving access is confirmed.

Can I request an estimate before measuring everything?

Yes. Start with the full addresses, contents, date options and requested help. Photographs and a route video show where more review is needed. The planning team can recommend an item-list, video or in-person survey and identify the remaining approvals.
