Piano Moving
Move an upright or grand piano with its instrument, route and receiving position reviewed first. Sterling Oakbridge offers individually quoted piano moving within a property or between addresses, with protection, preparation and specialist responsibilities agreed for the actual instrument.
Piano transport and technical instrument care are distinct. The exact route and specialist preparation are reviewed before booking.
Upright, grand and model identified.
Doors, stairs, turns and loading reviewed.
Room and environmental needs considered.
Moving and technician tasks distinguished.
Plan the work
Identify the manufacturer, model and piano type, with dimensions and weight from available manufacturer information. Send photographs of the instrument in place, its condition and any known repairs. Include the bench and separate accessories that should travel with it.
Show both routes in full: room doors, stair flights, turns, landings, outside steps, grades and the lawful loading position. A grand piano and an upright have different shape and preparation questions. An instrument that arrived before a doorway or staircase changed needs a fresh route review.
Piano moving can be a separate job, an internal relocation or part of the agreed household shipment. Disclose it during the main survey so the crew, protection and equipment plan can account for it. A short distance or a move to the next room does not itself make ordinary furniture handling sufficient.

Choose your scope
Show the cabinet, feet or casters, projections and route. Review support and protection for the instrument’s construction rather than assume its casters settle the carrying method.
Supply model, dimensions and the actual leg, pedal and lid arrangement. Name the appropriate specialist preparation, identified components and receiving reassembly in the scope.
Tell us if the instrument has electronic components, cables or a digital system. The exact model and instructions determine preparation; acoustic and electronic needs are different.
For floor work or a date gap, compare a suitable internal position with reviewed storage and a planned return. The holding environment matters as well as available floor space.
Plan the work
The reviewed plan identifies protection, handling equipment and any preparation or reassembly required for the instrument. Record loose or previously damaged parts and keep components identified with the piano. Do not remove structural or mechanical parts simply to make an unreviewed route fit.
Transport and physical placement are distinct from tuning, regulation, voicing, electrical service or repair. Identify a qualified piano technician for those needs. Yamaha’s piano-care guidance describes how instrument condition and room environment relate to technical care; it does not make maintenance part of a moving charge.
We quote the actual instrument, access, crew, protection and selected operations. Crane work is outside our service scope; a difficult route must have a feasible agreed plan before the appointment is confirmed.

Before you book
Practical answers about the work, preparation, price and receiving result.
Ask a coordinatorYes. Both are available as individually reviewed piano-moving work. Send the exact instrument, condition, dimensions and both routes so preparation, protection and handling can be quoted.
Yes. A separate piano move, an internal relocation or a piano within a household shipment can be reviewed. Include the same instrument and route detail for each; little driving does not remove specialist handling.
No automatic tuning is included. Physical preparation, transport, reassembly where selected and placement belong in the moving scope. Tuning, regulation, voicing and repair are separate work for the appropriate piano technician.
A particular stair route must be reviewed for the exact instrument, turns, landings, weight and handling method. Photographs and measurements determine whether a feasible plan is available; no universal stair capacity or crane service is promised.
Yes, with suitable holding and return arrangements reviewed. Compare an appropriate internal position with storage, including environment, extra handling and redelivery. The contractor confirms return readiness.
The instrument, condition, complete routes, crew, protection, specialist preparation and selected holding or transport stages. Send those details for an individual written quotation rather than use a generic rate based only on piano type.
A plan for your actual move
Send the piano model, dimensions, condition photographs, both carrying routes, dates and any holding or selected receiving work.
