Start with the decision in front of you

If you are still choosing an address, read orientation, the practical comparisons and housing first. Inspect the actual carry, systems, parking and written property rules. If you have children, read current registration and bus arrangements before setting an arrival date. If you have a closing date, work backwards from arrival: keys, Town accounts, independent collection and truck access.

When the address is settled, use the Millsboro moving page to bring dates, inventory, access and the estimate together. Keep the service plan and the household arrangements in the same calendar.

Understand Millsboro before comparing addresses

Millsboro is an incorporated town in Sussex County on the Indian River. Confirm whether the exact property is inside Town limits; postal Millsboro and nearby Long Neck are not interchangeable municipal boundaries. The Town FAQ identifies Town Hall at 322 Wilson Highway, 302-934-8171, normally Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., subject to holidays.

The ACS 2024 five-year profile estimates 7,424 residents. Owner occupancy is 67.77% of occupied housing units, with a ±5.15 percentage-point margin of error. The 14.53% mobility estimate, ±4.9 points, describes people age one and older who moved in the previous year. Neither statistic establishes growth, local moving demand or the inventory of a particular household.

Compare practical address checks

Compare the actual address through five practical themes: errands and Town contacts, school arrangements, the property route, water and sewer, and the responsible departments. The themes do not establish official neighborhoods or a service boundary; check jurisdiction and the property itself.

The main street & town-hall side

Use your actual errands and Town contact arrangements as a comparison theme.

Housing & setting
Inspect the particular dwelling and the entire entrance route; no block-specific stock or walkability is established.
Daily travel
Test errands from the address at the hours you need, including the return.
Before choosing

The school-side streets

Compare an address through its confirmed current school and registration arrangements, not an assumed elementary-to-middle ladder.

Compare the whole property, not just the price

Compare the entire property: entrance and internal route, systems, roof, storage, written tenancy or association conditions, and the services available at that address. Do not assign a stair layout or a house type to a particular Millsboro block from town-wide statistics.

The ACS 2024 five-year estimates put single-unit structures at 70.17% of all housing units, ±7.87 percentage points, and median value at $332,600, ±$19,528, for owner-occupied housing units. These are estimates for different universes, not current asking prices or a measure of the cost of your move. Ask the responsible account owner about water and sewer transfer before key day and obtain truck and move-window rules in writing.

Test the journey and the return

The ACS estimate of 32.97 minutes, ±7.63, is the mean journey to work for workers age 16 and older who did not work at home. It does not identify a destination, route or mode for your household. Test your actual outward and return journey at the hours you will use, including school and appointment connections.

DART’s published booklet includes route 215 between Mid Sussex Shopping Center, opposite Goodwill, and Rehoboth Park & Ride, plus Millsboro/Georgetown DART Connect information. The booklet is effective November 16, 2025; confirm the current timetable and any seasonal transfers. DART Connect describes an on-demand service Monday–Friday 5:45 a.m.–8 p.m.; check the actual service zone, booking method and return before relying on it. A Millsboro postal address is not proof of eligibility. Verify internet availability at the property if working from home.

Confirm the school and registration before arrival

Use the Indian River School District’s current registration instructions and its linked Delaware school locator for the exact address. Confirm the assigned school with the district before booking; an old grade ladder or a Long Neck postal address does not establish current assignment. For 2026–27, the district directs new families to Infinite Campus online registration and existing families to the parent portal.

Prepare the required identity and residency records, including a birth certificate, parent photo identification and current lease, mortgage or utility evidence with the parent’s name and address. Follow the district’s immunization, physical, TB and lead-blood-test documentation instructions and provide custody, IEP or 504 records when applicable; the school resolves individual requirements. The district’s 2026 bus-registration notice says to allow 48 hours for bus arrangements after September 10. Confirm pickup, drop-off and the address change before the first school day; plan a temporary journey if the bus is not yet arranged.

07 /

Town water and sewer, settled per account

For a property served by Town water and sewer, contact Finance before key day. Confirm the account holder, transfer reading, activation appointment and payment responsibility with the seller or landlord; do not assume a closing automatically activates service. The FY27 schedule lists $25 per meter-transfer visit and a combined $156 quarterly minimum for usage under 7,500 gallons, with additional-use and cut-on/off charges. These are Town account charges, not moving prices; ask which apply to the property and date.

Public Works currently posts a lead-exceedance notice, a lead FAQ and the 2026 water-quality report. The notice was issued January 14, 2026 and discusses 2025 sampling; a historical report or planned follow-up does not establish that the issue is resolved or the water at your property is safe. Ask the Town at 302-934-8171 for current property-specific guidance before arrival. Confirm electricity and internet directly for the address, including activation timing and a fallback for a delayed appointment. Town after-hours water/sewer emergencies are listed at 302-430-2823; account setup belongs with the office.

08 /

Arrange the hauler and the right disposal route

The Town FAQ explicitly says the Town does not provide trash or recycling collection; households must contract independently. Confirm the address’s hauler, container rules, collection day, first pickup and any move-out extra collection. The previous owner’s arrangement may not transfer to you.

The DSWA Long Neck collection station, 28963 Mount Joy Road, is an alternative for eligible Delaware-generated waste, not a municipal household pickup or unrestricted cleanout. The operator lists Monday–Saturday 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; Sunday opening is May–September, so do not plan an October Sunday visit. It takes credit cards only, requires covered loads and separates bagged household and yard waste. Bring help to unload. Loose household trash, bulky items, construction waste and hazardous materials are excluded; recycling rules differ and recyclables must be loose, not bagged.

Check Jones Crossroads’ operator schedule separately for household hazardous waste, electronics and latex paint. These have different days and acceptance rules. Confirm the exact material and next available date before loading; pack the moving inventory separately from disposal.

09 /

The driveway, and the street question

Survey a proposed truck position from the street through the property entrance. Check clearance, slope, overhead obstructions, turnaround and room for doors and a ramp. Obtain permission from the property owner or association for private space. For a public street, use Town Hall at 302-934-8171 and the Town’s street-maintenance map link to identify the responsible owner and confirm the particular loading plan before the date.

Do not treat the fee sheet’s moving permit as an ordinary household truck permit: Chapter 74 is about moving buildings along Town streets. Nor does failure to find a reservation page prove that no rule applies. The moving page’s truck section connects the confirmed position to the carry route. Keep written rental or association windows with the plan.

10 /

Walk the full route before moving day

Walk every segment: truck to door, clear opening with the door open, hallway, stair flight, landing and destination room. Compare the largest pieces with those dimensions and photograph turns and changes in level. A ranch, colonial or townhome label cannot supply the measurements.

Record soft ground, broken slabs, slopes and thresholds; agree suitable protection and equipment with the moving plan. Clear loose items and empty furniture before wrapping. Written rental or association instructions come before the date, including the approved entrance, move window and whom to contact if access changes.

11 /

Test the everyday loop from your address

The Town parks page places Cupola Park at the end of Morris Street beside the Indian River. It is a useful actual destination to test from your address, alongside the shops, school, work and appointments your household needs. Check access and current opening or event arrangements; a spring/summer concert description is not an October event promise.

Try the weekly loop at the hours you will use: outward and return travel, parking or walking conditions, groceries and essential errands. The guide’s illustrative riverfront picture is not a documented photograph of Cupola Park or proof that a particular home has a walkable route to it.

12 /

The shore calendar and the storm dates

Choose dates around your actual closing, school start, building window and service appointments. Ask the moving company about available dates and agree a backup; a general busy-season planning observation does not establish measured Millsboro demand or a guaranteed weather pattern.

Check the forecast and approach near the date, then confirm what would trigger a change and who calls. Include a slipped closing, unusable entrance and delayed service appointment in the plan. Book the independent hauler or the correct facility visit in advance, respecting the operator’s seasonal hours.

Confirm access, appointments and an agreed backup before departure.

13 /

Turn the closing date into an arrival plan

Before setting the moving date, confirm who releases the keys and when the property can receive the inventory. Arrange Town account transfer and activation, address-specific electricity and internet, the independent hauler’s first collection, and any rental or association window. Start district registration and bus arrangements before arrival, keeping the required residency records ready; do not leave enrollment until after the truck unloads.

Before departure, reconfirm both access contacts, the approved truck position and the inventory. Keep medication, identity and school records, chargers, toiletries and first-night supplies with you. Agree a concrete Plan B: a temporary place to stay if keys are delayed, storage and a separate delivery appointment if the house cannot receive the load, and temporary school/work travel or connectivity if an appointment slips. Confirm costs and responsibilities for any storage or revised delivery in the moving estimate, then check the backup again before departure.

Questions before you arrive

What kind of municipality is Millsboro?

Confirm that the property is inside incorporated Millsboro Town in Sussex County, Delaware. Town Hall at 322 Wilson Highway, 302-934-8171, is a starting contact for municipal accounts and procedures. A Millsboro postal address alone does not establish Town limits or a particular service territory.

How long is the commute from Millsboro?

Test the actual outward and return journey at your working hours. The ACS mean 32.97 minutes describes workers 16 and older who did not work at home, not a destination or mode. DART’s published route 215 and Millsboro/Georgetown DART Connect are alternatives to investigate; confirm current timetable, zone and return for the address.

Where do Millsboro children go to school?

Confirm the exact address with the current Delaware school locator and Indian River district. Use the 2026–27 Infinite Campus instructions and prepare applicable identity, residency and health records. Start before arrival and confirm pickup/dropoff and bus timing with the school; do not infer today’s school from a 2023 grade ladder.

Who provides water and sewer in Millsboro?

Arrange Town water/sewer transfer and actual activation before key day with Finance, confirming the account holder and fees. Ask Public Works for current property-specific guidance on its posted lead-exceedance notice. Confirm electricity and internet directly for the address and keep a backup for delayed appointments.

How does trash work in Millsboro?

Independently contract for household trash/recycling, as the Town FAQ directs. Confirm pickup and extra-item arrangements. DSWA stations have payment, load, residency and item limits; Long Neck’s Sunday hours apply only May–September. Hazardous waste, electronics and latex paint have separate operator schedules.

Are the streets the town's or the state's?

Both, depending on the street — the town links DelDOT's interactive map showing which streets are state-maintained and which the town's. For a truck question on a specific block, Town Hall (302-934-8171) is the named check.

How do I arrange the moving estimate?

Use the Millsboro moving page to request an estimate: both addresses, dates plus an alternative, a room-by-room inventory (garage included), and photos of the entry and the driveway. The more concrete the request, the more accurate the plan and price.
