Furniture Disassembly & Assembly

Furniture Disassembly & Assembly

Make the furniture usable in the room where it belongs. Sterling Oakbridge handles basic furniture disassembly and reassembly within moving labor time, and reviews complex assembly, wall beds, large wardrobes, specialist sofas and office systems individually.

Basic furniture work uses moving labor time. Specialist assembly, fixings and separate building work require an agreed scope.

Exact model

Version, instructions and condition reviewed.

Assembly space

Room and carrying clearances checked.

Identified parts

Panels and hardware stay connected.

Defined work

Basic labor and specialist scope explained.

Plan the work

Start with the exact furniture, not just its brand.

Send the manufacturer, model or article number, instructions, dimensions and photographs. Say whether it is new in cartons, assembled, secondhand or modified to appear built in. Include sliding doors, drawers, wall attachments, missing hardware and known damage.

The final dimensions do not describe all the assembly space. A frame that fits under the ceiling may need extra clearance to raise, fit doors or reach its fixings. Show ceiling slopes, trim, floor space and the whole carry route at both addresses.

We review construction and condition before deciding what can come apart. Glued joints, nailed backs, repaired edges and reused particleboard fixing points can make another disassembly unsuitable. An instruction for a newer version should not automatically be applied to an older unit with the same range name.

Choose your scope

Six furniture scopes have different preparation.

Basic moving furniture

Reviewed ordinary disassembly and reassembly use moving labor time, with no separate basic assembly surcharge. Identify the pieces during the survey.

Bunk beds

Supply the exact model, instructions, components and receiving arrangement. Agree the specialist operations and required assembly checks individually.

Murphy and wall beds

Show the actual wall attachments, mechanism, room and permission. Disconnection, relocation, required anchoring and building work need explicit allocation.

Large wardrobes and flat-pack furniture

Review panels, ceiling and door clearance, hardware and manufacturer-required anchoring. Complex assembly is individually quoted.

Specialist sofa work

When ordinary legs or modular sections are insufficient, disclose the construction and restricted route. Specialist disassembly and restoration of the agreed sofa are separately reviewed.

Office systems furniture

Provide layouts, component identifiers, drawings and attachment details. Workstations and partitions differ from an ordinary freestanding desk; technical connections are separately assigned.

Plan the work

Keep every component connected to the correct piece.

Photograph the assembled furniture and identify removable parts before disassembly. Support panels and group hardware by unit and component. Keep instructions and fittings together rather than mix several wardrobes into one bag of fasteners.

For a secondhand purchase, compare collection, disassembly, transport, reassembly and any missing parts with the usable result you need. The seller’s photograph does not prove that the furniture will pass your route or survive another rebuild.

A panel or fixing already damaged should be identified before moving it. Agree how unexpected damage, missing hardware or an unsuitable receiving room affects the scope. No universal promise to rebuild every previously assembled piece is made.

Plan the work

Finishing the frame is not the same as finishing the required attachment.

Manufacturer-required wall attachment must be addressed for the actual furniture and wall construction. Confirm suitable fixings, permitted positions and who performs the operation. Photograph the receiving wall and disclose conditions affecting attachment before the appointment.

Agree positioning, leveling, doors, drawers and the required attachment as named tasks. Trim modification, wall repair, product alterations and technical or utility connections are separate work; they are not implied by assembly.

The estimator and specialist performing the work may be different people. Give the moving team the approved assembly sequence so delivery does not arrive before a suitable workspace, parts or attachment arrangements are ready.

Hudson Valley · Poughkeepsie

A wardrobe leaves a high-ceiling room for a tighter bedroom

The local plan reviews the product version, ceiling and turning route before deciding whether the wardrobe can move intact or be dismantled. Final frame height alone cannot settle the receiving assembly.

The quote includes the chosen disassembly, carry and reassembly work, with the required wall attachment reviewed separately from repairs.

Northern West Virginia · Wheeling

A purchase needs more than delivery to the entrance

For a new boxed unit, send the instructions and receiving room before collection is booked. Confirm who checks components and provides any missing or model-specific parts.

Review a complete usable-room plan against separate delivery and assembly visits; one appointment is useful only if the item, access and workspace are ready.

A workable sequence

From the first list to the receiving result.

  1. Identify the exact piece

Send the model, instructions, condition, attachments and requested operations.

  2. Check the route and workspace

Measure carrying restrictions and the space required for the actual assembly method.

  3. Agree basic or specialist scope

Explain labor, specialist charges, parts, permission and any attachment or separate building work.

  4. Reassemble to the approved plan

Keep parts identified and confirm positioning, doors and the required attachment before using the furniture.

Furniture Disassembly & Assembly questions

Practical answers about the work, preparation, price and receiving result.

Ask a coordinator
Is basic furniture assembly a separate surcharge?

No. Basic disassembly and reassembly use moving labor time with no separate basic assembly surcharge. Complex wardrobes, wall beds, bunk beds, systems furniture and specialist sofa work are reviewed and quoted individually.

Can you assemble new boxed furniture?

Yes, with the exact items, instructions, components and receiving room reviewed. Name the carry, assembly, required attachment and any packaging collection in the estimate; delivery alone does not define those stages.

Can a wardrobe travel assembled?

Sometimes, when its construction, condition, attachments and carrying route allow it. Send the exact model and measurements. A unit assembled inside a room may not fit back through its doorway intact.

Does a wardrobe’s height tell you whether it can be assembled?

No. Check the actual manufacturer instructions, ceiling, floor space, raising method and door clearances. The space needed during assembly can exceed the final dimensions.

Do you include wall anchoring?

It must be explicitly agreed for the actual item and wall, with suitable fixings and permission. Manufacturer-required attachment is not optional simply because the frame stands; wall repair, trim changes and product modification are separate scopes.

Can you dismantle a sofa that will not fit through a door?

Specialist sofa disassembly and restoration can be reviewed individually. Provide construction details, photographs and both routes before the booking; ordinary moving labor does not establish that every sofa can be taken apart and rebuilt.

Can you rebuild furniture with missing or damaged parts?

Only an item-specific review can establish a workable result. Disclose the missing hardware, damaged panels and previous alterations; agree responsibility for replacement parts and the effect on the appointment before proceeding.
