Pennsylvania / City relocation guide

A practical guide to moving to Annville, Pennsylvania

Choose an address around the week you need to live. Confirm schools and providers, test the return journey and connect usable keys to the delivery plan.

Check the full address before choosing the arrangements

Annville is a Census-designated place in Lebanon County, with Annville Township as its municipal context. The CDP outline below is useful orientation; a 17003 mailing address can extend beyond it. North Annville and South Annville are distinct municipalities. Confirm the responsible municipality, school district and service providers for the particular property before using a town-name search to choose accounts or contacts.

Start with the household’s ordinary week: work, school, appointments, groceries and activities. Then inspect a candidate home against that week. The short journey on a map, available parking and a room photograph answer different questions. Our Annville moving page covers packing, access and shipment estimates; this guide focuses on settling in.

These are planning situations rather than claims about who lives on a particular block. Compare the actual property, lease and provider responses instead of inferring suitability from a neighborhood label.

04 /

Inspect what the home will let you do

During a viewing, follow the approach from the street or private drive to the rooms you will use most. Check steps, door openings, internal turns and the place for the largest furniture. Ask which storage belongs to the unit and whether outside or shared areas may be used. An upstairs bedroom and closet can be useful while still changing the furniture route.

For a rental, read the division of utility, refuse, maintenance and parking responsibilities. Confirm the handover, actual keys and condition-recording process. For a purchase, join closing to usable access and outstanding work. Compare the actual asking price, lease terms and condition with the spaces and journey you need.

Choose carton positions that leave the bed and receiving route clear.

05 /

Ask the landlord about the unit and working access

The township permit and license page includes a residential rental-unit licensing process for owners. Its application explicitly says that issuing a license does not establish compliance with every applicable code. Ask the landlord about the actual unit, unresolved repairs and the move-in arrangements; a license alone does not answer those questions.

Clarify which entrance, parking space and storage you are renting, whether any access is shared, and how contractors or deliveries are handled. Keep a written account of the agreed handover and the person available if keys or promised repairs are delayed.

06 /

Plan working space without losing the ordinary entrance

Inspect where a delivery vehicle could stand and how the household, neighbors and other traffic will reach their entrances while unloading takes place. For a private drive or shared lot, obtain the owner or manager’s permission for the actual vehicle, date and duration. Test the exit as well as the arrival position; a space on a listing photograph does not establish a usable delivery arrangement.

For public-road space, ask Annville Township which authority handles the proposed operation and whether notice, an application or charges apply. The permit directory distinguishes road occupancy and street dumpsters; neither a rental agreement nor a dumpster arrangement automatically reserves a truck position. Follow current signs and street-sweeping restrictions, and keep an agreed alternative if the preferred space is unavailable.

07 /

Start school arrangements with the exact address

Contact Annville-Cleona School District at 717-867-7600; its district office is listed at 520 South White Oak Street. Give the full residence address, student’s grade and proposed start date. Ask the district to confirm the applicable school and current new-student registration route.

Obtain the current document list and a contact for submitting it before arranging the first school day. Discuss prior school records, any support the child uses, and how attendance begins after the move. Ask separately about eligibility, stop location and timing for school transportation. A nearby school building or the CDP boundary does not assign a student to that building.

08 /

Check residence rules before packing for LVC

Lebanon Valley College Residential Life is the starting point for campus housing and commuter questions; the office lists 717-867-6230. Before signing an outside lease or planning a campus shipment, confirm the applicable residence policy and your actual assignment. Use the current room layout and arrival instructions for the hall.

The college describes furnished rooms, requires college furniture to remain in the room and lists large furniture among prohibited personal items. It also states that residence halls do not provide storage areas. Check what is already supplied and what you may bring before selecting the shipment. The campus maps and directions help identify destinations; ask separately where and when your delivery may enter.

09 /

Test the return journey as well as the outward trip

For driving, try the complete journey at a time that resembles your real work or appointment schedule. Include the destination’s parking, last walk and return leg. The college’s directions page describes approaches via Routes 422 and 934; it does not promise a commute time or establish moving-truck clearance.

If you will use the bus, Lebanon Transit Route 8 serves the west-county corridor through Cleona, Annville and Palmyra, with weekday destinations including Hershey and the medical center. The weekday table distinguishes Annville Square stops 372 and 432. Read the correct direction and run column; some intermediate stops are skipped on particular runs.

Saturday has a separate table and different stops; its published route does not include the weekday medical-center stop. Check the actual day, intended destination and last workable return before relying on a trip. Walk the route to the stop from the property. Keep another option for an appointment or shift that the timetable does not cover.

10 /

Arrange electricity, water and internet by property

Use the township utility directory as a starting list, then verify the serving company against the full property address and existing bill or meter. Electricity, water, sewer and heating arrangements need separate attention. Ask the landlord which accounts remain with the owner and which must begin in your name.

For an address served by FirstEnergy, its start, stop or move process may require at least two business days and provides a response confirming whether the requested date can be met. Submit the request early and retain the confirmation. For a property served by American Water, the MyWater service route provides start and stop options. A regional listing does not establish that it supplies your house.

Check internet availability and any installation visit at the actual unit before arranging a first day of remote work. Match the old account’s end date to the period you remain responsible, and the new service’s start to usable access. Keep reference numbers and contact details in an accessible arrival folder.

11 /

Understand the bill that stays with the property

The township quarterly-bill page describes sewer, residential trash and recycling, and a property-specific stormwater fee. These are distinct from setting up electricity or a separate water account. Ask Town Hall at 717-867-4476 how your property is billed and who is responsible after the handover; for a rental, compare that answer with the lease.

Use the current fee schedule and actual billing information when budgeting. The page’s notice for changes in assessed sewer units does not mean every household move uses that same procedure. Record the responsible payer, contact address and first expected bill rather than assuming one online signup settles every account.

12 /

Prepare for the first collection

Annville Township’s residential trash and recycling program normally collects on Tuesday, with annual holiday exceptions. Collection may begin as early as 5 a.m., so the township advises setting out the evening before. Obtain the year’s exception schedule and ask the landlord where your unit’s containers belong.

The township calls for lidded garbage containers and a maximum 50 pounds per bag or can. Bulky items, green waste and recyclables do not go in ordinary household trash. Its recycling list includes plastic bottles, newspapers and corrugated cardboard, glass bottles and jars, and aluminum or bi-metal cans. Check the local list before treating every plastic item as recyclable.

13 /

Choose the correct route for surplus belongings

The Annville Drop Off Center is at 675 West Main Street. Residential access is tied to the named residence and authorized vehicle; the card is not transferable, and a sale ends the previous owner’s access. Arrange your own eligibility and current pass with Town Hall before loading a disposal trip.

The center accepts listed residential bulky waste, green waste, scrap metal and corrugated cardboard. It excludes regular household trash and business or contractor use. For collection instead, the township Public Works service offers coordinated bulky or green-waste pickup for a fee. Request the arrangement and current cost rather than leaving furniture out for the ordinary collection.

For electronics or hazardous contents, follow the separate township disposal guidance and confirm the currently accepted item with the receiving operator. Keep those contents out of the moving shipment until the permitted handling is clear.

14 /

Use the library and parks as practical destinations

Annville Free Library lists 216 East Main Street and 717-867-1802. Check the operator’s current hours and visit arrangements. Its FAQ explains that a county-system card works at all six libraries and that requested items can be collected at a chosen branch. Ask about signup and any charges for printing or a particular program.

The township parks page describes Quittie Creek Nature Park’s walking trails and picnic tables. It requires dogs to be leashed and curbed. Visit the actual entrance and route before choosing it as a regular walk. For the community pool or another activity, check current membership, opening and program conditions with the operator.

15 /

Prepare the outdoor route for the season

Walk the entrance after rain and check the usable approach, lighting and any slippery level change. Keep the carrying and ordinary walking route clear before furniture arrives. In colder conditions, agree who will prepare the property path and how a delay will be communicated.

The township leaf page describes weather-dependent autumn collection by weekday and quadrant. Check the applicable area and current instructions instead of selecting a pickup day from the ZIP. The leaf pile must exclude bags, sticks and twigs; leaf burning is prohibited. Keep access and drains clear while preparing the outside space.

16 /

Separate move-in from unfinished property work

If you plan an alteration, street dumpster or home-based business, consult the township permit contacts about the actual property and operation before booking work. Different applications cover different activities, and a landlord’s permission may be another part of the arrangement.

Identify which rooms or routes remain occupied by contractors and what must be finished before delivery. If the property is partly usable, make that boundary explicit: where belongings may stand, what can be protected and who confirms that the next stage is ready. Avoid packing the only tools or records required to resolve the handover.

17 /

Keys, lease or closing and usable receiving routeContact names, agreed times and property instructionsAccess, room condition and anything still outstanding

Household accounts and refuse arrangementsProvider references, essential household supplies and local listService dates, payer and first collection
Shipment and any storage stageInventory, room labels and personal essentialsPlacement, receiving check and next delivery stage

18 /

Decide what happens if the handover changes

Choose a person who can confirm the revised access and a way to reach them while the move is in progress. If a landlord, closing, contractor or campus arrangement slips, establish where the household can stay, where belongings may wait and what cannot remain with stored goods. Keep essential records, medicines, chargers and clothing separate.

Review a changed receiving time or storage requirement with the moving team before the truck is ready to unload. The useful alternative is one with a real receiving person, available space and understood charges. A hoped-for spare key or an unconfirmed later appointment is still an open dependency.

19 /

Questions before you arrive

Is every Annville 17003 address inside the CDP?

The postal name covers a wider area. Confirm the property’s municipality, school district and providers individually; the Census map is orientation rather than a service or attendance assignment.

Where should I start school registration?

Use Annville-Cleona School District at 717-867-7600 with the exact address, grade and intended first day. Ask for the current registration documents and confirm school and transport arrangements separately.

Can I use the previous owner’s drop-off card?

The township rules say access ends when the property is sold and the card cannot be transferred to a new user, vehicle or property. Ask Town Hall about your own eligibility before making a trip.

Does Route 8 use the same stops every day?

Check the actual day and direction table. Weekday and Saturday service differ, and some stops vary by run. Verify the destination and a workable return rather than assuming the weekday medical-center journey applies on Saturday.

Does setting up water also settle the township bill?

The quarterly township bill has sewer, residential refuse and stormwater components. Confirm the responsible payer and property arrangements separately from any water, electricity or internet account.

What is the most useful backup for arrival?

A confirmed receiving person and revised access, somewhere usable for the household, and an agreed arrangement for belongings if delivery must wait. Keep first-week essentials accessible and review changed stages and charges before they are needed.
