Moving services in East Rochester, New York

Give us the shipment, the two addresses and the dates you need to connect. Sterling Oakbridge can plan the packing, carrying, transport and delivery around the work and access agreed for your move.

01 /

Put both addresses and the shipment in the plan

Send the pickup and delivery addresses, unit numbers and proposed dates. Include belongings in a basement, attic, garage or separate storage unit, and tell us which items you will carry yourself. Note large pieces, collections and anything that needs preparation before it can move.

This page focuses on East Rochester in Monroe County. The Town/Village name and a mailing address do not describe the carrying route at a particular property. Our Rochester moving page is the regional reference; the planning team must confirm your actual route and date. The East Rochester living guide handles address and household setup separately.

Choose the work to include

Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Show the conditions that affect the estimate

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

Photograph the largest furniture and the route at each address. Include steps, floors, doorway widths, tight turns, the proposed vehicle position and the distance to the entrance. Share the building instructions and name a person who can confirm access. Describe packing by room or item rather than assuming every loose object is ready to load.

Review the written inventory before booking. If you add a room, change the receiving address or need another preparation stage, tell the team before the affected work. A small floor area can still contain a complex shipment or difficult access.

04 /

Check the complete path into the property

Walk from the standing place to the final room. Check the entrance threshold, door swing, hallway turns and any stairs rather than measuring the front door alone. Ask the owner which entrance can be used, whether shared areas need protection and who can keep the path clear.

Send photographs if a large piece may not pass. An alternative entrance or temporary change to the building needs the appropriate owner’s agreement. Avoid filling the daily walking route with staged cartons; keep exits and emergency access usable while carrying takes place.

05 /

Resolve the standing place before dispatch

East Rochester’s published snow-plowing guidance prohibits street parking between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. from November 15 through April 15. It also says not to block sidewalks with vehicles. These winter rules do not determine whether a particular daytime loading position is lawful.

Check the current signs and ask the Town/Village about the intended vehicle, duration and date, including which road owner handles the arrangement. For private space, confirm entry, standing room and exit with the property owner. Give the planning team a usable fallback if the first position is occupied; a move booking does not reserve public curb space.

Agree the packing scope and keep essentials separate

Labor, materials and optional work

Item or taskHow it is charged
Basic furniture disassembly and reassemblyPart of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee
Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tapeNo separate charge for these basic protection materials
Boxes supplied for your moveCharged separately
PackingCharged for working time; boxes are separate
Unwrapping furniturePart of delivery
Unpacking the contents of boxesOptional work, charged for working time
Packaging and waste removalCharged separately
Complex furniture and other specialist workIndividually quoted after review

Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

Choose full packing, selected rooms or particular fragile items. Set aside keys, documents, medicines, chargers and the belongings needed during transit. Mark cartons by receiving room and tell the team about collections or objects that need a different packing method.

List the preparation you will finish yourself and confirm when it will be ready. If packing must happen before the carrying window, discuss a separate stage. Changes to contents or responsibilities should reach the team before loading begins.

Make placement decisions while rooms stay usable

Prepare a simple room plan and identify the person who can direct delivery. Keep the entrance, stairs and essential walking routes clear. Place the first-night supplies where they can be reached before the rest of the household is unpacked.

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. Optional removal of contents from boxes is charged for working time, and packaging-waste removal is separate. Include those choices in the scope if wanted. Check delivered items and their condition with the team and retain the moving documents for the agreed issue-reporting process.

Connect pickup to a confirmed key handover

Direct and consolidated long-distance moving

Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.

A lease start or closing appointment is different from having keys and permission to enter. Identify the contact who can confirm possession before the shipment is dispatched. If there is a gap, discuss storage, handling and later delivery as separate stages.

Keep medicines, documents and overnight belongings with you. Tell the team promptly when dates change or the home cannot receive the shipment. Confirm storage availability and the delivery sequence in writing; a tentative handover time cannot guarantee a workable arrival.

Review the item, route and required operation

Specialist services by individual quote

What needs attentionWork available for review
Complex furnitureBunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly
Heavy itemsPianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables
Art and collectionsFine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification
Hanging and installationPictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately
Business equipmentOffice furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route

Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.

We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Provide photographs, dimensions, weight if known and access information for a piano, safe, artwork or other unusual item. Specify what must be disconnected or prepared and who will do it. Specialist work requires review of the operation as well as the object; listing it on an inventory does not define every task needed.

Give the business move a receiving owner

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

For an office or shop, name the receiving manager and agree the work window, loading location and placement plan. Separate files and equipment that must stay available from the main shipment. Confirm responsibility for IT shutdown, reconnection and testing with your staff.

For property alterations or use questions, the Town/Village Building Department is a starting point. Its contractor and building requirements do not themselves approve a moving vehicle or after-hours access; confirm those arrangements with the relevant owners.

Record protection and price terms before moving

Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total

Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.

A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.

Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price

For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Send a move brief that can be acted on

  • Both full addresses, unit numbers and named access contacts.
  • Dates, possession confirmation and a plan for a handover delay.
  • Inventory, large-item details and items travelling with you.
  • Photographs of the route, steps, turns and standing place at both ends.
  • Packing, unpacking, storage and waste-removal choices.
  • Building instructions and written price and protection terms.

Request a quote when those details are available. Use the living guide to arrange the household matters that continue after delivery.

Questions before you move

Does an East Rochester booking reserve a parking space?

No reservation is established by booking a mover. Check current signs, agree private access with the owner and ask the responsible road authority about any public-space arrangement.

What winter parking hours does East Rochester publish?

The DPW snow-plowing page gives 3 a.m. to 6 a.m., November 15 through April 15. Check current restrictions for your date and keep the sidewalk clear.

Is a local estimate a fixed completion time?

Most local work is hourly. Estimated or minimum hours help plan the move but do not cap the total; inventory, readiness, access and traffic can change the time.

How is a dedicated long-distance move arranged?

The company policy provides a dedicated truck and delivery with the same moving crew at pickup and drop-off. Confirm the route, timing and any storage stage in the written plan.

What is included with basic furniture and packing materials?

Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.

What if the new home is not ready?

Tell the planning team before dispatch. Discuss storage and later delivery, availability, handling stages and revised timing rather than assuming the truck can wait indefinitely.

Can an office move include evening or phased work?

Discuss the required window and stages with the team and property manager. Availability and building permission need confirmation, along with responsibility for IT and receiving decisions.

Will the crew unpack boxes and remove packaging?

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
