Moving services in Orient, Ohio

Connect the belongings, both properties and a usable receiving window. Sterling Oakbridge reviews the requested preparation, handling and transport against the actual inventory, access and dates.

01 /

Plan the shipment around the actual Orient address

Sterling Oakbridge can review a household move, selected packing, a business relocation or a shipment needing storage before final delivery. Start with both full addresses, your proposed dates and the belongings that need to travel. Include the person who can open each property and the contact who will receive the delivery.

This page concerns Orient CDP in Pickaway County, Ohio. The Orient mailing name does not establish the same boundary, school district or service connections for every address. For the wider destination, see our Columbus moving services. To compare homes and prepare local accounts, use the separate Orient living guide.

Choose the work that belongs in your move

Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Build one inventory that includes the outbuildings

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

Go room by room, then include the garage, shed, basement, attic and any separate storage address. Decide what stays behind and what needs another disposal route. Identify dense book collections, tools, fragile items and large furniture rather than relying on the number of bedrooms. For each item needing special handling, send photographs and dimensions with the requested operation.

Add your packing choices, date constraints and the access route at both ends. A short video can connect the vehicle position, door, steps and destination rooms more clearly than isolated close-ups. Keep updates in the same brief: an added shed inventory, different entrance or extra delivery stop can change staffing, working time and preparation.

Show the garage route as well as the front door

Follow every carrying route from the proposed standing place to the inventory. A useful front entrance does not describe how garage contents, workshop furniture or basement pieces will leave. Show the garage opening, floor changes, door tracks and clear working space, then follow the interior route through the narrowest turn.

Separate items that the moving team can prepare from fuel, chemicals and other contents needing their own approved transport or disposal plan. Ask about the specific item before including it in the shipment. Keep tools, bicycles and stored materials out of the route during carrying. Do not assume a driveway or garage floor is suitable just because a passenger car uses it.

For a rental or managed property, obtain entry instructions, protection requirements and work hours from the owner. Confirm which doors can be opened on the day and who holds their keys. Share any route change before the affected work starts.

Include outbuilding contents and the route to each entrance.

Review the surface and the whole truck footprint

Start with a private driveway or receiving yard that the property owner allows the company to use. Show the surface, slope, width, overhead branches, culverts and the approach from the road. Include enough space for the assigned vehicle to stand and leave safely. A broad-looking gravel area may still have a soft edge, buried system or unsupported section that needs review.

For public-space standing, identify the road owner and ask about the exact position, vehicle, date and duration. Scioto Township’s office and the County directory provide starting contacts for an address in their jurisdiction. A contact listing is not permission to park. Keep travel lanes, drives, emergency access and pedestrian routes clear, and inspect the actual signs.

Choose a second feasible standing place before moving day. If the first is unavailable, explain the change to the planning team; a longer carry or different approach may affect the agreed operation. Check ODOT OHGO for current conditions and restrictions, and have the vehicle route reviewed separately from a passenger-car navigation suggestion.

Pack the collection to fit the handling plan

Labor, materials and optional work

Item or taskHow it is charged
Basic furniture disassembly and reassemblyPart of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee
Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tapeNo separate charge for these basic protection materials
Boxes supplied for your moveCharged separately
PackingCharged for working time; boxes are separate
Unwrapping furniturePart of delivery
Unpacking the contents of boxesOptional work, charged for working time
Packaging and waste removalCharged separately
Complex furniture and other specialist workIndividually quoted after review

Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

Decide which rooms or collections the company will pack and which cartons will be ready on arrival. Books and other dense contents need suitable small cartons, with weight and closure considered together. Leave a stable work surface and a usable route from the shelf or cabinet to the packing area.

Close and label owner-packed cartons by their destination room. Keep keys, documents, medication, chargers and first-night essentials outside the shipment. For full packing or work before move day, confirm early access and which items must remain usable until departure. Appliances and specialist equipment need an agreed preparation plan; their appearance on the inventory does not settle disconnection or installation responsibilities.

Prepare furniture before it reaches the carrying route

Identify vulnerable surfaces, loose shelves, projecting pieces and items that need disassembly before carrying. Send photographs of complex furniture and explain where it will go at the destination. The planning team can review the feasible method and any specialist work before giving the relevant quotation.

Keep the room clear enough for protection and handling, and identify items that must stay accessible until the last stage. On delivery, show the final position before the crew removes protection. Furniture unwrapping belongs to delivery; optional removal of contents from boxes and packaging removal are separate choices to include in the scope.

08 /

Keep a fallback when keys or service dates change

Agree who will confirm that the receiving property is available and who tells the company if that changes. A closing appointment, lease start or submitted utility request is different from having access to a usable home. Check keys, owner instructions and any outstanding work before committing to the delivery window.

If possession slips, discuss storage and later delivery as separate stages, with the handling, access needs, availability and terms agreed. Keep essentials for the gap with you. Tell the planning team as soon as a date becomes uncertain, rather than waiting until the shipment is loaded or the vehicle reaches a locked property.

Connect both ends of an interstate move

Direct and consolidated long-distance moving

Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.

Provide the destination inventory and access conditions with the same care as the Orient pickup: building restrictions, loading space, stairs, receiving contact and any storage stage. Identify which dates are firm and which depend on another party. Confirm how the responsible person will receive the shipment if travel plans change.

Keep the agreed shipment, packing responsibilities and receiving arrangements in writing. Ask for revised scope when contents or access change before the affected work begins. A dedicated delivery still needs a ready property, a lawful vehicle position and a practical carrying route.

Describe the item and the operation you want

Specialist services by individual quote

What needs attentionWork available for review
Complex furnitureBunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly
Heavy itemsPianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables
Art and collectionsFine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification
Hanging and installationPictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately
Business equipmentOffice furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route

Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.

We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

For a piano, safe, pool table, complex wardrobe, artwork or business equipment, send the make or model where relevant, dimensions, weight if known and the route through both properties. Distinguish preparation, transport, reassembly and installation. An item that fits a room may still be unable to pass a stair turn or narrow landing by the preferred method.

Discuss an alternate receiving room if necessary. Keep trade connections and technical startup with their agreed owner. The company reviews the item, access and requested work before an individual quotation; there is no generic local rate or automatic promise that every specialist operation is performed by one crew.

Give the receiving site a workable sequence

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

For an office or small business move, identify the site manager, permitted working window and equipment that needs to remain available. Mark furniture, files and equipment by destination. If the business stays open during the move, discuss a phased sequence and the interruptions it can tolerate.

For furniture receiving, provide shipment dates, counts, storage needs and the final layout. Show the receiving door and vehicle space rather than treating a loading area as reserved. Assign IT reconnection and system startup to the responsible staff or provider. A new business use, fit-out or building approval remains separate from moving coordination.

Understand time, price and protection

Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total

Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.

A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.

Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price

For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

13 /

Choose the next destination for packing materials

Arrange unwanted furniture and household waste separately from the shipment. For eligible cardboard, RPHF’s recycling instructions call for clean, dry materials, broken-down boxes, no plastic bags and nothing left on the ground. Review the current Pickaway County drop-off list and confirm the receiving conditions before making a trip.

Ask your actual waste provider about collection, bulky items and any additional charges at the new address. Company packaging removal is separately charged; include it in the request if you want that work. Keep unpacking space usable while materials wait for the disposal route you have confirmed.

Questions before you move

What do you need for an Orient estimate?

Both full addresses, dates, inventory, packing choices and access routes. Include sheds, garages, separate storage and specialist items. The move-planning team recommends the appropriate list, video or visit.

Are basic materials and furniture work included?

Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.

Can you unpack boxes and remove packaging?

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.

Can a truck use the gravel driveway?

Show the approach, surface, edges, slope, overhead clearance and exit, and obtain owner permission. Identify private-system areas and other limits. The assigned vehicle and actual property determine the feasible standing place.

What if the receiving date changes?

Tell the planning team early. Discuss storage and later delivery as separate agreed stages, and keep essentials outside the shipment.

Does an hourly estimate cap the final time?

No. Estimated and minimum hours help plan the job. Final charging follows the written terms; changed inventory, access, readiness or conditions can change the duration.
