Moving services in Jane Lew, WV

A Jane Lew move needs a workable route through both properties and a receiving home that is ready. Sterling Oakbridge helps plan household and business moving, packing and storage around the shipment, access and dates you provide. Start with the physical addresses and the help you need.

01 /

Choose the work you need completed

Describe the result: a household delivered to a new home, selected furniture moved to a relative, business contents transferred in stages or belongings collected from storage. Mark the boundary between your own preparation and the work you want us to undertake.

Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Jane Lew is an incorporated town in Lewis County. Give the physical street address and the actual receiving entrance, even if the mailing address uses Jane Lew outside the town. Our Clarksburg moving-services page is a regional reference; discuss availability for your route and date with the planning team.

List every stop and the items assigned to it. A house, a storage unit and a business receiving area can have different contacts and opening windows. A single ordered inventory helps prevent one stop’s contents being treated as the final home delivery.

Send the details once, then resolve the uncertainties

Begin with a room-by-room list, clear photographs and the dates you know. An approximate carton count is useful when labeled as approximate. Include sheds, porch furniture, a basement, an attic and any off-site storage; mark what stays.

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

Highlight what remains undecided: a piano going to another address, furniture awaiting sale or a receiving date subject to closing. Give the decision an owner and a deadline. The estimate can then be reviewed against a defined shipment rather than a hoped-for plan.

03 /

Read the estimate beside its service scope

Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total

Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.

A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.

Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price

For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

Compare the included work, preparation, materials, extra stops and access assumptions. A quote for transport only covers a different job from one that includes packing and a storage delivery. Keep the charging method and any minimum clear when comparing options.

Update the team if the inventory, entrance or receiving window changes. A different floor, unfinished packing or a longer carry may require revised work. Keep approved changes in writing with the estimate so everyone is planning from the same version.

For an uncertain property handover, separate the departure deadline from the first confirmed delivery window. Ask how waiting, storage and another delivery would be handled before the shipment leaves. The distance between homes does not resolve a key or possession conflict.

Walk the complete route through the property

Start where the moving vehicle could stand and follow the route to each room. Count actual steps, show narrow landings, doorways and turns, and photograph the outdoor surface. A front-entrance photograph alone does not describe a basement or rear-door carry.

For large pieces, provide the item’s dimensions and the narrowest parts of the route. Identify removable parts, glass, weakened joints and earlier repairs. Let the review establish the handling method before assuming a sofa will pass through a doorway.

Check private drives for usable width, turning space, slope and surface condition. Identify soft shoulders and any known underground structures. Obtain the property owner’s agreement for a proposed position; lawn space and vehicle space have different requirements.

In shared or rented premises, request the manager’s instructions for entrances, common areas, lift booking and working hours. Forward the current instructions and an on-site contact. Keep the agreed route free of cartons, pets and household activity during the carry.

Agree where the vehicle and crew can work

Review the whole standing position, room for loading, visibility and remaining passage. A space suitable for a passenger car may leave too little room for a moving truck. Show the location from more than one angle and identify gates or obstructions.

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

For public-street use, establish the road owner and the authority that can approve the proposed vehicle, position and time. Start with the town or the Lewis County office for routing to the responsible authority; county contact information alone is not a municipal parking permit.

For a private commercial receiving apron or storage stop, confirm authorization, gate access, hours and clear working space. Have an alternative reviewed if the first choice depends on a neighboring vehicle being moved. A longer carry should be considered in the agreed scope.

The guide’s Census outline is useful for jurisdiction questions, but it contains no authorized parking positions. Confirm conditions close to move day, especially after rain, a roadworks change or a temporary obstruction.

Complete one packing task at a time

Choose full packing, selected-room packing or preparation you will complete yourself. Set aside time for fragile collections before the loading window. Tell the team which rooms are available for advance work and which need to remain usable.

Use small 1.5-cubic-foot Book cartons for books. Keep linens in an appropriate larger carton rather than filling a linen box with books. Group related contents, protect them for transport and mark the destination room without blocking the only route out.

Labor, materials and optional work

Item or taskHow it is charged
Basic furniture disassembly and reassemblyPart of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee
Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tapeNo separate charge for these basic protection materials
Boxes supplied for your moveCharged separately
PackingCharged for working time; boxes are separate
Unwrapping furniturePart of delivery
Unpacking the contents of boxesOptional work, charged for working time
Packaging and waste removalCharged separately
Complex furniture and other specialist workIndividually quoted after review

Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

Keep keys, identification, essential medicines, chargers and overnight needs with you. Establish the agreed handling for valuables and private records. Photograph unusual or fragile pieces before relying on an ordinary carton to solve their protection.

If preparation is falling behind, contact us before crew arrival. The plan may need a separate packing period or a revised sequence. Keep items that are staying clearly separated from the shipment and leave furniture connections accessible for the agreed work.

Specify protection and each technical operation

Identify heavy, delicate or unusual pieces and show both the object and its route. For a fixture or appliance, distinguish disconnection, transport, installation and testing. Each requested operation needs a clear scope and the appropriate person.

Specialist services by individual quote

What needs attentionWork available for review
Complex furnitureBunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly
Heavy itemsPianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables
Art and collectionsFine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification
Hanging and installationPictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately
Business equipmentOffice furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route

Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Plan destination placement before delivery. Give the receiver a room plan and identify furniture that must be assembled before another piece can be placed. Keep hardware and instructions tied to their item so the final room arrangement can be checked.

Let the team know about existing damage or fragile joints before handling begins. Record a specific concern with the receiving person through the agreed process. A useful photograph accompanies the issue and its location rather than leaving the team to infer what needs attention.

Prepare the receiving business as carefully as the shipment

Divide a business move by destination workspace and reopening sequence. Identify items that can leave early, those needed for the last working day and equipment that must be available first at the new premises. Name someone who can approve each stage.

Ask the manager about loading, shared entrances, security, work windows and any COI. For a changed use or alteration, establish the correct town or county authority through Lewis County’s contact page. Permission to deliver furniture does not establish permission to occupy or operate a business.

IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.

We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Your technical team should control shutdown, reconnection and testing. Mark equipment by workspace, keep important records available and schedule other vendors against the same receiving window. A delivery completed at the door is only one dependency in reopening.

For a designer or hotel-furniture shipment, provide supplier dates, quantities, staging needs and installation sequence. If a supplier slips, revise the storage and final-delivery plan before asking the property to receive goods it cannot yet accommodate.

09 /

Give a possession gap a workable fallback

Discuss storage when the old property must be cleared before the new one is usable. Separate the stored portion from belongings you need during the gap. Decide who will confirm that the receiving property is ready and when that answer is due.

Review duration, access, uncertain dates, charges and redelivery in writing. Keep first-night items out of the stored shipment. If you expect to retrieve a particular carton before final delivery, raise that need while the storage plan is being arranged.

Direct and consolidated long-distance moving

Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.

A predicted closing date or landlord’s planned handover remains a dependency until confirmed. If it changes, check the effects on packing, specialist work and extra stops together. Give the planning team the actual available window rather than assuming the shipment can simply wait at the property.

10 /

Keep removal separate from household collection

List the objects to be removed, their size and any special material or handling. Distinguish them from the moving shipment and agree the work and price. Do not create a blocked entrance by staging unwanted furniture along the carrying route.

Mountain State Waste’s residential page describes collection and bulky-item service for its customers. Confirm who serves the actual address, the applicable account and the collection arrangement before placing an object outside. The page does not establish that every Jane Lew home is a customer.

For ordinary empty cardboard, consult the operator’s recycling guidance and confirm the available local drop box and preparation. Household recycling is a separate route from charged packaging-waste removal or a commercial cleanout.

11 /

Resolve dates, preparation and access before the final day

Contact us when the route and likely dates become clear. State what is flexible and what is fixed: a lease end, closing, building slot or business reopening. Availability is reviewed for the actual shipment and route.

From the owner’s moving experience, summer is busier than winter; demand often clusters after the 25th through about the 3rd of the next month, with another mid-month increase. This is an operational observation, not a Jane Lew booking forecast or a guaranteed price difference.

Recheck the path, vehicle position and receiving contact near move day. When weather or access changes, tell the team before arrival and use the agreed fallback. The person at the address should know which changes they can authorize.

For preparation beyond the shipment, read the Jane Lew living guide. Utility accounts, school placement and daily travel have their own owners and deadlines; keeping them in a separate plan helps the home become usable when the goods arrive.

Questions before you move

What should I send to begin a Jane Lew estimate?

Send the physical addresses, a room-by-room inventory, photographs, your dates and the services you need. Flag uncertain items and access rather than omitting them.

Is the Clarksburg page a Jane Lew office address?

It is a regional service reference. Discuss the specific route and availability with Sterling Oakbridge; no Jane Lew office or measured journey is established.

Are basic materials charged separately?

Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.

Does delivery include unpacking every carton?

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.

Can the truck use the space in front of my home?

Review the actual space, road ownership, authorization and loading area. A vacant car space or the town boundary does not establish truck permission.

What if the new home is not ready?

Discuss storage or staged delivery before departure, with a receiving decision-maker, deadline, access arrangements and written charges.

Can I use ZIP 26378 alone to describe the move?

Include the physical address and entrance. The postal area extends beyond the incorporated town and does not determine access, utilities or jurisdiction.
