Movers in Northport, NY
Sterling Oakbridge movers help Northport homes, apartments and businesses with local and interstate moves, packing, storage and specialist services. Share your addresses, dates and inventory so we can review the work and prepare your estimate.
01 /
Start with the route and the work you need
Start with both addresses, your dates and the work you need. Northport’s village-wide housing statistics do not tell us which rooms or stored belongings belong in your move. List the furniture, cartons and any basement, garage, attic or business stock that is actually included.
Share photographs of the entrance and largest pieces, stairs and landing turns, the proposed truck position and the carry distance. Separate the cleanout from the shipment. If leaving one address and receiving keys at the next fall on different days, identify the gap early. The Northport relocation guide brings together the address arrangements; this page defines the moving work.
02 /
Choose the moving help you need
Choose the help from the inventory and schedule: moving, the packing you want done, any storage stage, and items needing specialist attention. Give the actual origin and destination, including any intermediate storage address, so the requested stages can be reviewed together.
Confirm the work, access and timing in writing. A nearby community name does not establish what your estimate covers. If a lease, closing or account activation changes, explain which part of the plan needs an alternative.
Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Plan a Northport business move around your hours
For a Northport shop, office or other business address, list equipment, tools, records, shelving and stock. Identify what must remain available during the transition and which work needs to restart first.
Send permitted work windows and receiving restrictions at both ends, along with who controls keys, the loading position and building protection. Agree the sequence and a backup if keys or essential services are delayed. The interruption depends on the actual scope and conditions.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Plan the carry from the truck to the room
Walk the full route from the proposed truck position to each destination room. Record steps, surface and slope, the narrowest clear opening, overhead clearance, inner door leaves, any storm door and the turns on each landing. Check the largest piece against the complete route.
Photographs support planning; they do not authorize a driveway, curb stop or door removal. Ask the owner or building manager about the move window and protection requirements. Keep door swings and the approach clear, and confirm any agreed access changes before the date.
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

05 /
Confirm the actual truck position
Confirm the position with the property owner and the authority responsible for that street. In the village code, no-stopping, no-standing and no-parking restrictions differ: merchandise loading is not a general exception to every sign. Check the actual signs and location with the Village before committing the plan.
A commuter permit is separate. A driveway proposal still needs permission, sufficient surface strength and clearance for the truck, doors, ramp, pedestrian route and exit. Ask the Village office, 631-261-7502, which owner handles the proposed street position. Record the agreed alternative and any longer carry in the estimate.

06 /
Choose packing, furniture preparation and specialist care
Packing may cover selected fragile items or the agreed rooms. List the actual contents and spaces, including stored belongings, so the materials match the task. Use small Book cartons for books and appropriately cushioned China cartons for dishes and fragile items.
Empty furniture shelves and drawers before preparing the piece for handling. Remove loose books, bowls, plants and ornaments; protect the empty furniture as agreed. Keep the cleanout list separate from packed belongings and confirm an accepted disposal arrangement before staging unwanted items.
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

What affects your Northport moving cost
Access and inventory shape the work: floors and stairs, narrow openings, landing turns, the surface and carry distance from the agreed truck position. Include the packing level, disassembly, specialist pieces and any storage stage in the request. Photographs and a complete room list make the estimate more useful.
Cleanout is a separate arrangement under the Village solid-waste rules. Confirm the exact items, acceptance, date and any fee with the disposal owner before assuming ordinary collection will handle them. Keep an authorized alternative if collection does not fit the move-out date.
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

From the first conversation to placement
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
The review starts with your two addresses, dates and inventory. Before moving day we confirm the scope in writing: what is packed by whom, the access plan at both ends, where the truck stands, and the timing windows, including the backup plan if a closing or a storm moves the date.
When the day comes, the crew works the confirmed scope: protect the route, load in the agreed order, place room by room at the destination, and reassemble what was disassembled for the route.
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Check the actual event date and backup
The Cow Harbor organizer’s 2026 race date was September 19 and is already past. For a future event-day move, confirm the organizer’s current date and the Village’s actual street restrictions; the old race information does not establish a future closure.
Recheck weather and the approach near the booked date. Keep an alternative key handover, any agreed storage stage and a temporary stay if access is delayed. Carry medications, documents and first-day essentials with you, and confirm appointments and the cleanout separately from the moving date.
10 /
Prepare for the day you actually booked
Before the crew arrives, confirm keys, the permitted truck position and the route at both ends. Separate belongings that travel with you, label rooms and keep access, stairs and landing turns clear. Identify anything changed since the estimate.
Select handling for the actual surface and route. A compact furniture dolly serves suitable level travel; stairs, thresholds and uneven ground require a different handling plan. Furniture must be emptied and protected before loading. If access or keys change, contact the move coordinator before changing the sequence.

Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
The more concrete the request, the more useful the answer: both addresses, preferred dates plus an alternative, the inventory or a room-by-room outline (basement included), the entry and any tight turns, the street's slope, packing expectations, and anything fragile or oversized. Photos of the largest pieces, the curb and the stairs help us price the actual work. For an interstate shipment, ask for the carrier's legal operating name and written terms; the federal Protect Your Move checklist explains what interstate movers must provide.

Questions before you move
Can I book a move entirely within Northport?
Send both addresses, dates, inventory and access details for a Northport move so the requested route and work can be reviewed. Confirm the agreed scope in writing, including any storage stage; nearby community names do not establish what this estimate covers.
Where does the moving truck park at a Northport home?
Confirm the proposed position with the property owner and the Village for the actual street. Check signs, permission, clearance, surface and a clear exit. Photographs help planning but do not authorize a stop; record an alternative position and carry if needed.
How do I get rid of things I am not taking?
Ask the Village about the exact items, current route, acceptance, appointment and any fee before the cleanout. Ordinary collection is not blanket bulky-item or construction-debris approval. Arrange an authorized alternative if the accepted date will not fit move-out.
What is the Cow Harbor weekend?
The organizer’s 2026 race was September 19. For a future event-day move, confirm the current date and official street restrictions with the organizer and Village; the past event does not establish a future closure.
Where do Northport children go to school?
Check the exact address and current district registration guidance before arrival. Registrar 631-262-8546 handles records and appointments; transportation 631-262-6865 handles bus questions. The district must confirm residence, placement, start date and the actual transport arrangement.
How is the price of a Northport move set?
Local moves are priced on the labor and time the work needs — volume, access (stairs, entries, the slope, the carry from the truck), packing level and any storage stage all shape it. Long-distance shipments carry an agreed price that holds while the shipment and scope stay as agreed. The estimate reflects the detail you give us.
Are basic furniture assembly and packing materials included?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Can you unpack boxes and remove the packaging?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
