Movers in Mashpee, MA
A year-round home, a second home, a new workspace or a smaller place near family: the reason for moving shapes what needs to travel. Sterling Oakbridge handles moves to, from and within Mashpee with the work agreed before the date.
01 /
Start with what is changing
Think through the rooms you will use at the destination. You may be bringing the whole household, moving a few pieces into a furnished home or combining belongings from two addresses. A room-by-room list gives the move a useful starting point.
Mark anything that stays with the property, goes to storage or belongs to someone else. Include the shed, garage and outdoor furniture in the review; those items are easy to miss when the first conversation focuses on bedrooms and the kitchen.
If you are still comparing addresses, our Mashpee relocation guide covers the local arrangements behind an ordinary week. The moving plan can then follow the home and routine you have chosen.
02 /
Choose the help that fits the move
Some households want packing and delivery handled together. Others need help with furniture while they prepare the smaller belongings themselves. Tell us where that division falls, including anything that needs more than ordinary lifting and carrying.
Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.
| Moving help | What we can include | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Local residential moving | Loading, transport, delivery and basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Both addresses, inventory, dates and the route through each property |
| Interstate moving | Pickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when needed | Destination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment |
| Commercial moving | Office and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictions | Business type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect |
| Packing and unpacking | Selected-item or full packing, preparation before move day and optional box unpacking | What you will pack and what you want us to prepare |
| Storage and staged delivery | Storage between addresses and an agreed receiving and delivery plan | Expected dates, contents and anything you need to access during storage |
| Designer and hotel furniture receiving | Receiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed plan | Expected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site |
When there is more than one destination, label belongings before loading and identify the receiving person at each stop. Discuss which items need to remain accessible between stages, particularly if part of the shipment will spend time in storage.

Make the estimate describe the actual work
Send the addresses, preferred date, inventory and requested services together. Add photographs of bulky pieces, the entrances and the likely vehicle position at both ends. Explain any packing, extra stops, storage or work you want completed after delivery.
Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.
A bedroom count helps begin the conversation, but it does not describe a workshop, a full garage or a collection of fragile objects. Update the inventory when those details change. Compare written estimates by their included tasks and charging basis as well as the final figure.

Check the path beyond the front door
Follow a large piece from the vehicle to the room where it belongs. Photograph the clear door opening, each turn, the stair flight and the landing. Include ceiling height, rails and fixed fittings that reduce the useful space.
A sliding door needs its usable opening measured; the full glazed width is not the carrying width. At a raised entrance, show the steps and the space to turn on the landing. Tell us if the intended route crosses lawn, gravel or decking before reaching a firm indoor floor.
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.
For a residence above shops or another shared building, ask the manager about the delivery entrance and access times. Do not assume that the doorway used for a viewing is also the approved moving route. Review any proposed removal of a door or fitting with the owner before relying on it.

05 /
Reserve a workable loading position
Show the approach road, driveway turn, standing area and path to the entrance in one connected set of photographs. Include low branches, soft edges, a steep change in level or other parked vehicles. The plan needs space to work around the vehicle as well as somewhere to leave it.
Agree shared parking with the property manager. If loading depends on a public-road position, check the proposed arrangement with the responsible authority; an apparently empty space does not establish permission to use it.
Before the move, consult Mashpee’s sewer construction and road-detour notices. The September 29, 2026 check listed work affecting Meetinghouse Road and Cotuit Road. Confirm the current route and property access close to the date rather than treating a projected completion date as a guarantee.
Keep other deliveries from occupying the agreed area at the same time. Tell us promptly if construction or a contractor changes the approach.

06 /
Pack for the way you will unpack
Label cartons with a destination room and a short contents description. For a home receiving belongings from several addresses, add the owner or destination where needed. Keep a separate group for anything you will take personally.
Use small cartons for books and other dense contents. Protect dishes individually, cushion the load and avoid filling the remaining space with unrelated heavy objects. A box that closes neatly still needs to be a manageable weight.
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.
If you want partial packing, identify the rooms or objects that need help. Leave the agreed materials and surfaces accessible. Keep keys, essential medicines, personal documents, chargers and the things needed during travel out of the shipment.

Show us the pieces needing individual attention
A piano, safe, large mirror or workshop machine deserves its own line in the inventory. Send dimensions and photographs, explain any removable parts and show the full route. Knowing about an unusual item early leaves time to agree how it will be handled.
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.
Keep hardware identified when furniture is dismantled. Arrange plumbing, electrical, fuel or other technical work with the appropriate provider when it is outside the agreed moving service. Ask before packing chemicals, fuel or other restricted materials with ordinary household belongings.
08 /
Keep the next working day in view
For a business move, identify the equipment and furniture that must be usable first. Label pieces by their new position and appoint someone who can answer placement questions at delivery. Keep important records and backups accessible throughout the change.
Coordinate access with the building manager, including the receiving entrance, shared spaces and permitted working hours. Where customers or staff remain on site, keep their route separate from the carrying work. Arrange network and equipment connections with the people responsible for them.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.
A staged move should make clear what leaves first, what stays in use and when the next section is ready. Include storage or a second destination in the plan before loading begins.
09 /
Separate the closing from the delivery
Confirm when the property can actually receive furniture. A closing appointment, key handover, contractor visit and moving delivery can depend on different people. Name the receiving contact and make sure they have authority to let the crew in.
If the dates do not line up, discuss storage and later delivery. Decide what you need during the gap and keep it out of the stored shipment. For a second home or a property you cannot attend in person, agree who will review placement and completed work.
Review the pickup and delivery terms for an interstate move. If the property or timing changes, contact us early so that access, storage and the receiving arrangements can be reconsidered together.
10 /
Prepare a usable home for arrival
Keep pets and children away from open doors and the carrying route. Remove loose objects from the agreed path and make sure there is light at entrances and stairs. Check wet steps, leaves or ice close to the delivery time.
Mark the rooms consistently with the cartons and sketch the larger furniture positions. A clear plan saves having to choose a layout while a piece is in the doorway. If repairs are still under way, identify the rooms available for delivery and protect the agreed access from other work.
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
Review the completed tasks with the receiving contact before the crew leaves. Set up the bed, a place to eat and any essential work equipment first; the remaining cartons can follow in an order that suits you.

11 /
Know the terms for your shipment
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.
Keep the inventory and written move documents together. Raise any question about the shipment or completed work promptly, while the relevant details can be recorded and followed up.
12 /
Plan the belongings that are not coming
Make a separate list for donation, recycling and disposal. Confirm a collection or receiving destination before the handover date depends on getting those items out. Removal work and the household shipment should be clear, separate parts of the estimate.
Mashpee does not provide ordinary municipal curbside trash collection. Residents can arrange a licensed private hauler or use the transfer station under its rules. The guide’s waste section explains the distinction between a permit, separately charged bulky items and materials the facility will not accept.
Do not assume a resident sticker authorizes a commercial moving vehicle to make a disposal trip. Confirm that arrangement with the facility or the removal provider before scheduling it.

Questions before you move
Can you move us within Mashpee or from another state?
Yes. We provide local and interstate moving. Share the actual addresses, belongings and work you want included so both ends can be planned.
Can I move only some furniture into a furnished home?
Yes. Identify the pieces that will travel, anything staying at the property and any separate storage or delivery stop. Include the access at each destination.
Can you pack just the kitchen or fragile items?
Yes. Explain which items need packing help and what you will prepare yourself. That division of work should be clear in the estimate.
What if a stair or sliding door looks tight?
Send the clear measurements and photographs of the complete route, including the landing and turns. Show large items and their detachable parts before relying on a particular entrance.
Are basic assembly and protection materials extra charges?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Can you unpack cartons and remove the packaging?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
What happens if the receiving home is not ready?
Tell us promptly. We can discuss storage, a revised delivery and the belongings you need during the gap. Confirm the receiving contact and access before the new date.
Does a household move automatically include a transfer-station trip?
No. Identify removal work separately and agree its destination and charging basis. Facility eligibility, vehicle rules and material acceptance must be confirmed for that trip.
