We can move you between apartments, relocate your business or bring your belongings into Boston from another state. If the old property must be cleared before the next one is available, we can arrange storage and later delivery. To plan the work, send the full pickup and delivery addresses, a date or realistic date range, and an inventory that includes storage rooms as well as living or working spaces. A bedroom count gives a rough outline; it does not describe the belongings or the work.

Then identify the condition that controls your schedule. It might be a closing, a lease ending, a booked service elevator or the time someone can release the keys. Explain which parts are fixed and which can move. If access at the destination is unresolved, bring that into the first conversation so the plan can account for it.

Tell us what you want completed and what you will handle yourself. For a home, that may be transport for packed belongings or a full packing plan. For a business, identify equipment, receiving arrangements and any work that needs to continue during the move.

Direct and consolidated long-distance moving

Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.

Our crew carries, loads, transports and places office, shop and studio furniture and equipment, with the preparation agreed for your business. Send a furniture and equipment list, the pickup and delivery instructions, and the date or work period you need to protect. Restaurant equipment, industrial pieces and furniture systems need a handling plan for the actual item and site.

Identify the last working day at the old location, the first required use of the new one and the person authorized to receive the shipment. If the move needs separate preparation or delivery stages, we can plan those around the access the property permits. IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.

We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Your Boston moving estimate needs to account for the shipment, the route and the work at both properties. The main factors are how much you are moving, how it reaches the truck, what preparation is needed and how pickup and delivery fit your schedule. A bedroom count alone cannot describe that work.

Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total

Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.

A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.

Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price

For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

For example, two one-bedroom homes can require different work if one contains a substantial book collection or has several flights of stairs. Include basement, attic and outdoor contents so those differences appear in the estimate.

Ask for the included services, pricing basis, exclusions and change conditions in writing. Identify who arranges and pays City parking charges and any building fee or deposit; these are separate from the moving service. The guide’s parking chapter explains the municipal charges and procedure.

Give competing providers the same inventory and access information. Compare the work included, not just the total. If a closing date, elevator booking or item list is still open, say so: establish how the estimate will be reviewed when that detail changes.

Labor, materials and optional work

Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

Boston moves can involve a rowhouse, an older multifamily home, a managed apartment or a commercial building. We’ll plan the carry from the rear cargo opening, down the ramp, through the agreed entrance and into the final room. Photograph clear doorways, stair turns, landings and the largest pieces; include the narrow points and overhead limits.

For a building with elevators, tell us whether the booked car is exclusive to your move or shared with other deliveries. If the path uses one elevator to a lower level and another to the final floor, include both cars, the connecting route and any stairs. The dimensions and permitted hours of one elevator do not describe the entire journey.

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

For a short slot, discuss preparation before the carrying period: materials first, then packing and agreed disassembly, followed by moving the ready items during the approved window. The property must permit each stage. We will review the volume and route before agreeing a workable plan.

A resident parking sticker, an open space outside the door and a reserved moving-truck space are different things. Boston offers a moving-truck reservation process, although a permit is not required for every move. The truck still needs lawful parking for the work. Identify the proposed frontage and the actual vehicle requirements before deciding that the curb arrangement is sufficient.

Agree who will apply if a reservation is needed, who will receive and post the signs, and who will check the space before arrival. This is especially useful when you are coming from out of state and cannot visit the destination yourself. Private building permission also needs its own arrangement; it does not reserve a public street.

Keep the moving truck off Storrow Drive, Soldiers Field Road and Memorial Drive. DCR prohibits trucks and moving vans on these river roads; Memorial Drive is in Cambridge. A passenger-car route or a bridge-height estimate is not a truck-routing plan. Have the carrier choose the legal approach for the vehicle; the guide’s state-road section links to DCR’s warning.

Decide which rooms and items you will pack, which you want us to pack and which need an individual handling plan. For full packing, describe the contents of cupboards, storage areas and rooms still in use. For partial packing, make the division of work clear.

Keep keys, identification, essential medication and the items needed before delivery with the people travelling. Identify the destination room and contents directly on ordinary kraft cartons; use an attached paper label on a customer tote. Clearly identify anything staying behind. Safely detachable long table and desk legs are normally removed before transport: protect the body first, then keep the complete removed set protected together with its associated hardware. Retained vulnerable feet need continuous protection with the main furniture quilt. If you want help taking contents out of boxes after delivery, include that optional unpacking work in the request.

Specialist services by individual quote

Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

The fine-art service page is a starting point for artwork and collection handling. Agree the object-specific preparation, receiving conditions and any requested protection arrangements before the work. If the properties will not overlap, discuss storage and access to necessary belongings before finalizing delivery.

Share a preferred date and alternatives when you have flexibility. Summer, month-end handovers and the beginning of the next month can concentrate demand; a mid-month date can also be busy. The available crew, building slot and receiving arrangements need to work together.

Boston has an additional early-September lease turnover. The City publishes moving-season information and temporary neighborhood notices. Use the advisory for your actual date and location.

Settle packing, access documents and any specialist work before the carrying day. The final day should be a readiness check. If keys, an elevator or the receiving site may be delayed, agree a fallback and the point at which you will choose it while an alternative is still available.

For a winter move, agree who clears the outdoor approach and ask the building manager which floor protection is permitted inside.

Before work is scheduled, review the written description of the shipment, included services, price assumptions, pickup and delivery arrangements, and responsibility for permits or building approvals. Ask which company will carry the goods and how any storage or additional handling stage will be documented. Keep the agreed inventory with the paperwork you can reach during the move.

Confirm the operating carrier’s identity and discuss the available shipment protection and claims procedure before choosing. A Boston address alone does not tell you whether the particular move is intrastate or interstate. On moving day, the crew prepares the furniture as agreed, carries it out and loads the vehicle. At delivery, we unload, place furniture and cartons in their receiving rooms, unwrap the furniture and complete agreed basic reassembly. Optional box unpacking and packaging removal have their own charges.

At the destination, nominate the person who will admit the crew and decide where furniture goes. A simple room plan is useful when rooms are empty or similarly sized. Check the delivered inventory, inspect any concern while the item is available, and follow the documented process for recording it.

If the inventory or access changes after the estimate, request a review before move day. The written scope should describe the move that will actually take place.

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Send both addresses, your preferred dates, an inventory and the help you want. Include floors, stairs or elevators, building instructions and photographs of complicated items or access points. For a business, add equipment details, the receiving contact and the work schedule to protect.
