Movers in Earlysville, Virginia

Share the belongings, full addresses, dates and requested work. We will review the packing, handling route and receiving arrangements for your estimate.

01 /

Start with the belongings and the receiving property

A home near Earlysville may have an attached garage, a private drive or a receiving room reached through a different entrance from the one used every day. Put that complete route beside the inventory before choosing a moving arrangement. The important questions are which belongings travel, who prepares them and where they can be received.

Earlysville is a Census-designated place in Albemarle County, Virginia. A postal address using Earlysville or ZIP 22936 does not settle a property boundary, school, provider or road responsibility. Share both full addresses. Our Charlottesville moving page provides regional context, and the separate Earlysville living guide helps investigate household arrangements before arrival.

Choose the work that belongs in the proposal

Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Moving helpWhat we can includeWhat to send
Local residential movingLoading, transport, delivery and basic furniture disassembly and reassemblyBoth addresses, inventory, dates and the route through each property
Interstate movingPickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when neededDestination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment
Commercial movingOffice and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictionsBusiness type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect
Packing and unpackingSelected-item or full packing, preparation before move day and optional box unpackingWhat you will pack and what you want us to prepare
Storage and staged deliveryStorage between addresses and an agreed receiving and delivery planExpected dates, contents and anything you need to access during storage
Designer and hotel furniture receivingReceiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed planExpected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site

Distinguish a complete household shipment from packing assistance, loading a separately arranged vehicle, a move within a property or delivery after storage. Say who supplies transport and who handles each end. Comparing a labor-only proposal with a shipment including a truck is useful only after those responsibilities are made explicit.

Include a garage, shed, storage unit or second collection address in the first inventory. Mark possessions that stay with the home and pieces owned by a landlord. For a downsizing move, finish the keep, sell and disposal decisions before treating every room photograph as an instruction to load everything.

Send the information that changes staffing and time

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

Provide dates, full addresses, the item list and the requested packing. Show large furniture, fragile collections, stairs and any contents outside the main rooms. Photographs help identify construction and condition; dimensions help compare the largest protected item with the actual route. Floor area alone cannot reveal a tight turn or a cupboard still full of dishes.

If the receiving house is not yet accessible, identify who can inspect it and when. Record missing doorway, step or vehicle information as an open question. An estimate based on an assumed entrance should be revisited when the team learns that delivery uses a garage ramp, a basement door or a long outside carry.

04 /

Follow the route through the garage or entrance

Film from the proposed truck position to the final room without skipping transitions. At an attached garage, show its clear opening, floor, storage along the walls and the separate door into the house. Include a ramp or steps, rails, door swing, ceiling clearance and the turn beyond the threshold. An empty garage bay is not the same as a usable route for the largest piece.

For an outside approach, show gates, branches, changes from paving to gravel, gradients and any bridge or shared drive. Have the responsible owner confirm the vehicle can enter, stand and leave on the intended date. Identify areas that must remain clear or cannot bear traffic. Rolling equipment suited to a level floor does not establish a workable stair or soft-ground method.

Confirm the authority for the exact working space

Describe the proposed vehicle, position, duration and operation to the owner or association for a private drive or road. Obtain instructions for shared access, delivery hours and departure, including a practical alternative if another vehicle occupies the preferred place. Keep the pedestrian route separate from the working position.

For an operation affecting a state road or its right-of-way, the VDOT land-use permit guidance is a starting point for identifying the responsible office. Ask that office about the actual proposal and follow current signs. A construction approval does not reserve parking, and this page does not establish that every household move needs the same permit.

Give fragile contents one preparation plan

Labor, materials and optional work

Item or taskHow it is charged
Basic furniture disassembly and reassemblyPart of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee
Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tapeNo separate charge for these basic protection materials
Boxes supplied for your moveCharged separately
PackingCharged for working time; boxes are separate
Unwrapping furniturePart of delivery
Unpacking the contents of boxesOptional work, charged for working time
Packaging and waste removalCharged separately
Complex furniture and other specialist workIndividually quoted after review

Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

Tell us which cupboards, dishes, glassware and collections need packing and which cartons the household will prepare. Give delicate or unusual pieces their own photographs and requirements. One shelf of bowls and a complete kitchen call for different materials and working time.

Keep a sturdy work surface available and the route out of the room clear. Use suitable cushioning and manageable cartons; dense books belong in appropriate small book boxes rather than a large linen carton filled with books. Close and label cartons for their receiving room. Keep keys, personal records, medicines, chargers and first-day supplies with the household instead of sealing them into the shipment.

Review protection and support before handling

Identify dimensions, material, loose shelves, removable parts and existing marks for a chest, cabinet or table. Confirm what preparation is needed and whether the protected piece will use the inspected route. A doorway measured for an unprotected object may not leave the same clearance once its surfaces are covered.

Handling equipment must suit the item and floor. Keep the receiving position available and the route clear before cartons arrive. A step, loose surface or changed entrance requires a reviewed method; do not assume an item can simply continue rolling. If the prepared route cannot be used, resolve a feasible revision with the planning team.

Make access instructions usable by the people arriving

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

Record who opens each property, who can approve a change and how to contact them during the work. Share gate instructions, association conditions, permitted working periods and any activity by cleaners or contractors. A key handover and an available carrying route are separate confirmations.

For an outbuilding or a property receiving several deliveries, label the destination explicitly. Distinguish goods that enter finished rooms from items that wait in an agreed staging area. Do not turn a garage containing contractor supplies into an assumed receiving bay without checking its usable space.

09 /

Join the booking to a house that can receive it

Work backward from usable destination access. Confirm when keys become available, packing finishes, rooms are ready and the responsible receiving person can attend. Share real constraints and alternative dates. Closing, cleaning, connection appointments and delivery do not automatically finish in a convenient order.

If the handover or unfinished work slips, tell the planning team before unloading is due. Review waiting, storage or another delivery stage with the actual timing visible. Keep essentials outside goods that may wait in storage. A changed inventory, extra packing or revised entrance also changes the plan; make those updates before the team works from an old description.

10 /

Define a staged shipment as separate usable steps

For storage between addresses, identify the expected interval, items needed early and the notice required for redelivery. Ask about handling, access and charges as part of the agreed scope. Keep household and work essentials available during the gap.

Separate a first usable room from later placement after work finishes. Name who confirms each stage, which rooms are ready and where items can wait without blocking ordinary access. A renovation target date is a dependency to confirm, rather than proof that every room will be ready for delivery.

11 /

Prepare the receiving sequence for an office or business

List workstations, furniture, records and equipment, then identify what must operate first. Agree labels, staff access, working periods and the person who checks placement. Define technical preparation and reconnection separately from moving an object; those operations need their own reviewed responsibilities.

For incoming furniture or designer shipments, give the expected delivery sequence, receiving checks, storage intervals and final placement instructions. Coordinate customers, staff and contractors where they share access. Discuss an evening, weekend or phased arrangement against actual availability and scope rather than assuming uninterrupted operation.

IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.

We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Compare the same inventory and agreed work

Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total

Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.

A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.

Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price

For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

Direct and consolidated long-distance moving

Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.

13 /

Review protection before pickup

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

14 /

Finish placement and arrange packaging separately

Check room labels and the inventory as belongings are placed. Keep the entry usable and record concerns through the agreed receiving process. Decide whether the household removes carton contents or requests separately charged unpacking assistance. Furniture unwrapping and removing the contents of boxes are different tasks.

For unwanted packaging or surplus items, confirm a hauler or facility arrangement. The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority directory identifies regional recycling and disposal facilities; it does not authorize every material, contractor load or curb collection. Check acceptance, fees and arrangements before taking goods or leaving them outside.

Questions before you move

Does an Earlysville postal address establish the moving route?

Give both complete property addresses and the actual access information. This page covers Earlysville CDP; ZIP 22936 and the mailing name do not establish vehicle permission, a service territory or the final entrance.

What should I show for a garage entry?

Show the whole carry from the truck position, garage opening, floor, ramp or steps, handrails, internal door and turn into the receiving room. Include clear dimensions and the largest protected item.

Are blankets, boxes and basic furniture preparation charged the same way?

Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.

Can a truck stand on the road outside?

Ask the responsible road authority about the exact position, vehicle, duration and operation, and follow current signs. Obtain private-owner or association instructions where those apply; do not treat a nearby space as reserved.

Can I arrange unpacking and waste removal?

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.

What if the receiving home is delayed?

Contact the planning team before delivery is affected. Review waiting, storage or another stage with usable access, a receiving contact and understood charges. Keep personal essentials separate from goods that may wait.
