Movers in Manchester, NH

Prepare a Manchester move around the inventory, the building and a confirmed receiving route. Share the dates, access at both addresses and any packing or storage needs so the estimate reflects the work you actually require.

01 /

Plan for the Manchester building you will actually use

A home near the Merrimack, an upper-floor apartment beside a commercial street and a house near Crystal Lake can need very different receiving arrangements. Start with the full address and unit, the entrance you may use and a lawful position for the vehicle. A large room is not evidence that its furniture will pass through the stair turn leading to it.

This page concerns Manchester, New Hampshire. The City's 25-neighborhood framework helps describe its settings, but a neighborhood label does not establish a school assignment, loading entitlement or company office. Bedford, Hooksett, Goffstown and Londonderry have their own municipal decisions.

List all rooms and storage areas, including a cellar, detached garage or second pickup. Separate the preferred moving date from confirmed possession, keys and building hours. A business should identify the workstations, records or stock needed first at the destination so the receiving order reflects the agreed reopening plan.

02 /

Choose the work you need

Choose services by the work to be performed, not by assuming everything is included in a truck booking. The inventory, access review and estimate establish what is handled, what is prepared in advance and which additional arrangements are needed.

Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.

Moving helpWhat we can includeWhat to send

Interstate movingPickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when neededDestination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment
Commercial movingOffice and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictionsBusiness type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect

For staged moves, agree on storage intake, access and onward delivery before relying on that option.

Keep the business handoff practical

For an office, studio or shop, nominate one person to approve the move and another, if needed, to release the destination for use. List workstations, shelving, stock, equipment and records by room or department. Identify the first area that must reopen and the items that support it.

Confirm landlord rules, freight access, alarm contacts and any contractor requirements before fixing the sequence. A delivery does not itself reconnect networks, commission equipment or make a workspace operational. Assign those tasks to the responsible providers and allow time to test them.

If customers or staff still use the premises, agree a clear work area and a route that preserves exits. Explain any limits on downtime, staged pickup or the order of unloading in the estimate request.

IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.

We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Measure the route from vehicle to room

Inspect the route as a sequence: vehicle position, outdoor approach, entrance, vestibule, stairs or elevator, landing and final doorway. Record clear opening sizes with doors open, stair width, landing depth and low ceilings. Photographs should show the turns and changes in level, not just an attractive room.

An older wood-frame home may have a side porch or a separate upstairs entrance. A converted building may receive deliveries through a different door from the one used for viewings. Confirm which route belongs to the unit and who can unlock it; neither building age nor a neighborhood description proves elevator access.

Tell the mover about slopes, soft ground, long carrying distances, shared halls, fragile finishes and restrictions on floor protection. If a proposed alternative crosses a yard, another unit or neighboring property, obtain permission before counting on it. Keep pedestrians and residents able to reach their own doors.

We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.

The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which City or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

Match the parking approval to the actual loading footprint

Manchester's parking overview advertises commercial pay-and-display arrangements. Its detailed guidelines refer specifically to construction work in two-hour zones and list $20 per day per 18 feet, unless spaces are marked. They require prepayment and make the renter responsible for reserving the actual space. This wording does not establish a universal household-moving permit.

Start with Parking at 603-624-6580. Describe the address, date, hours, vehicle dimensions and any ramp or liftgate. Ask whether the program applies, how many spaces are needed, who posts or places official controls, how much notice is required and what happens if another vehicle occupies the location. A permit or meter payment is not evidence that the curb will be empty.

If the operation would narrow or close a sidewalk or traffic lane, or otherwise obstruct the public right-of-way, use the City's separate Encumbrance process. It calls for at least 48 hours' notice, a location and traffic-control plan, interdepartmental coordination, payment before issuance and an approved permit on site. This notice period is not an approval guarantee.

Highway can clarify the footprint and permit requirements at 603-624-6444. Its insurance and bonding page distinguishes encumbrance-only work from construction bonding. Confirm the applicable insurance certificate and responsible applicant; do not borrow another project's approval or fee.

Resolve the building's receiving window at the same time. Keep entrances and pedestrian access clear and agree a lawful fallback if the first position is unavailable. Winter overnight parking and snow emergencies add separate restrictions; the full Manchester curb procedure connects those checks.

Agree how each room and fragile item will be packed

Decide which rooms you will pack, which need professional packing and what should remain accessible until departure. Books, hanging clothes, glassware and large soft items need different carton sizes and preparation. Share unusual dimensions and photographs of vulnerable items before the estimate.

Keep a small first-night kit with you: essential documents, medicines, chargers, keys, basic clothing and the items needed for children or pets. Label cartons by destination room and purpose. Use stable, manageable loads, and tell the crew which boxes must arrive first rather than relying on a vague “important” label.

Give the estimate the details that change the work

Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total

Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.

A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.

Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price

For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.

The useful comparison is the agreed scope. Share the inventory, packing requirements, stair and elevator routes, carrying distance and any separate destinations. Include a garage, basement, storage locker or another pickup even if it is close to the main address.

Ask which charges belong to the moving scope and which come from the building, parking authority or another provider. Any applicable City parking charge is separate from the moving scope. A building reservation is not proof that the public curb will be available.

Identify uncertain dates, access or storage needs. Update the estimate when the shipment or service changes.

Agree the delivery and protection arrangements

Dedicated long-distance moving

Our dedicated long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and delivery, with the same moving crew at pickup and drop-off. Confirm the pickup, delivery and any storage stages in your move plan. The survey and move-planning team performs a separate role from the crew carrying out the move.

Plan the two addresses in sequence. Pickup and delivery windows need to be compatible with loading, travel and unloading; they do not need to be identical. Name the people who release each property and can answer an access question while the move is underway.

For an interstate move, review the written documents and the FMCSA consumer guidance. Keep the inventory and agreed services together with the access confirmations. Raise a change while there is still time to adjust the plan.

Choose protection before the move

Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.

For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.

Plan around winter parking and the receiving surface

Manchester's winter parking notice uses odd and even calendar months, not alternating dates, for its ordinary overnight rule. Snow emergencies override ordinary street parking. A legal daytime position is not automatically an overnight place for a loaded truck.

Assign the private walk, porch, steps and landing to a person who can clear and treat them before the receiving window. The City's snow guidance prohibits pushing snow into the public right-of-way and explains why banks around carts and driveways affect access. Check both the truck position and the whole carrying route after weather changes.

Company scheduling experience includes heavier summer and month-end work, with another rise around mid-month. This is a company observation, not a measured Manchester demand forecast. Offer alternative dates and allow time for possession, building arrangements and municipal review; a different date does not guarantee availability or a particular price.

10 /

Keep the route and receiving order clear

Before the vehicle arrives, confirm that keys work, the agreed entrance is open and the authorized loading position is usable. Keep collection carts, discarded furniture and parked cars out of the route. Introduce the person who can resolve a building or access question without leaving the crew to search for permission.

Walk through the inventory and identify anything excluded, especially belongings staying with the property or items awaiting disposal. Confirm agreed furniture preparation, fragile pieces and the first rooms to receive goods. Keep hardware with the relevant item in a labeled container rather than loose in a common carton.

If the actual conditions differ from the plan, pause the affected work and agree the response. A longer carry, different entrance, delayed elevator or later receiving window can affect scope and timing. At completion, review placement, remaining work and the agreed paperwork while the relevant people are present.

Request an estimate with the open questions visible

Let the scope determine the survey

A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.

Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.

The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.

Send the pickup and delivery addresses, preferred and alternative dates, inventory and services needed. Add access photos, stairs, elevator reservations, long carries and any separate stops. State what is confirmed and what still depends on a landlord, closing, City approval or another provider.

Use the Manchester arrival guide for neighborhood, school, utility and disposal preparation.

Questions before you move

How do I request a Manchester moving estimate?

Provide both addresses, the inventory, preferred and alternative dates, and the requested services. Include stairs, elevator arrangements, carrying distance, entrances and the proposed truck position. Mark anything still awaiting approval.

Does the commercial parking permit automatically cover a home move?

The detailed City guidelines describe construction work in two-hour zones. Ask Parking whether your activity qualifies and confirm the footprint, payment, posting and occupied-space procedure before relying on it.

When does an Encumbrance permit enter the plan?

The City applies that process to temporary narrowing or closure of sidewalks or lanes and other public right-of-way obstructions. Describe the full loading operation to Highway. The published 48-hour notice is not a guaranteed turnaround.

Can the vehicle stay on the street overnight in winter?

Confirm the exact date and location with Parking and check snow-emergency notices. The ordinary rule follows odd/even months between December and April; emergency street bans take precedence. Confirm that any off-street alternative accepts the actual vehicle.

Are basic furniture assembly and packing materials included?

Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.

Can you unpack boxes and remove the packaging?

Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.

What if a large item will not pass through the stairs?

Share its dimensions and views of the complete route before the move. Discuss agreed disassembly or another authorized route. A window, neighboring driveway or different unit is not an automatic alternative.

What if keys or possession are delayed?

Contact the decision-maker and agree a confirmed fallback before proceeding with affected work. A later delivery, storage stage or alternative receiving location requires access, capacity, permission and agreed costs.
