Movers in Lancaster, New Hampshire
Send the two addresses, belongings, possible dates and preparation you need. We will review the work and the receiving route for your estimate.
01 /
Start with the shipment and the two addresses
Tell us what is travelling, the starting and receiving addresses, possible dates and the preparation you need. Include a separate pickup, storage unit, basement or outbuilding when it is part of the work. Mark belongings staying behind and keep the inventory current as plans change.
Name the person who controls keys at each end. Explain whether the request is a household relocation, selected items, packing, a business transfer or a combination. A Lancaster mailing address alone does not describe the property or the handling route.
Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.
| Moving help | What we can include | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Local residential moving | Loading, transport, delivery and basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Both addresses, inventory, dates and the route through each property |
| Interstate moving | Pickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when needed | Destination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment |
| Commercial moving | Office and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictions | Business type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect |
| Packing and unpacking | Selected-item or full packing, preparation before move day and optional box unpacking | What you will pack and what you want us to prepare |
| Storage and staged delivery | Storage between addresses and an agreed receiving and delivery plan | Expected dates, contents and anything you need to access during storage |
| Designer and hotel furniture receiving | Receiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed plan | Expected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site |

Choose the survey with the difficult items in view
Show unusual, heavy and delicate items together with the route they must pass. Include doorways, interior turns, stairs and the receiving room, rather than only a close view of the furniture. Floor area does not measure the belongings or the work.
Separate the preparation you will finish from the packing or dismantling you want quoted. Identify an uncertain purchase, a changed delivery address or a collection still awaiting approval before the estimate is finalized.
Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
03 /
Follow the route beyond the first door
Walk from the proposed standing position through the actual delivery entrance to the rooms. Photograph changes of surface, low landings, narrow turns, door swings and stairs. Explain where keys or a building contact are needed.
For a shared building, ask management about moving hours, the service entrance, protective measures and access to any restricted corridor or elevator. Confirm which route is available on the agreed day and who can open it.
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

04 /
Settle standing space before dispatch
Show where a vehicle can stand and how it enters and leaves. Establish permission for a private driveway or shared lot; keep the pedestrian route and neighboring access clear. Send the actual surface, slope and available turning space.
Lancaster’s parking ordinance adopted February 17, 2026 prohibits obstructions including sidewalks, driveways and crosswalks. Its limited loading provisions do not grant a general moving-truck reservation. Check the exact location, signs and authority when planning a street position.

05 /
Give each room a clear packing responsibility
Choose full preparation, selected professional packing or household packing. Keep medicines, personal records, valuables, chargers and first-night supplies with the household. Mark destination rooms and identify fragile pieces before packing begins.
Use an appropriate small 1.5 ft³ Book Box for books and other dense items. Keep books separate from a dish-packing task. Label cartons clearly, and leave a clear working route as packed rooms fill.
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.

06 /
Prepare furniture before its protective layer
Empty cabinets and drawers, clear the top and remove loose shelves or inserts before protection. Keep parts and fittings identified with their piece. Tell us which dismantling and assembly you want included, especially for an unusual or heavy item.
Review furniture size against the complete route and the receiving space. Confirm separately any work involving a building attachment or service connection. A blanket protects a prepared piece; it does not make contents left inside safe to move.
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

07 /
Put access and preparation into the same schedule
List the outgoing deadline, key handover, building bookings and the person receiving. Include a possible packing day, other contractors and obligations that constrain the working window. Send evening, weekend or staged requests with their full scope for an availability review.
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.
Update the inventory and route when purchases, repairs or dates change. Expected working hours help plan the operation; unfinished preparation and additional handling can change the work required.
08 /
Check the approach and the current winter restriction
The town parking ordinance sets an 11 p.m.–7 a.m. restriction from November 1 through April 30 on designated streets and municipal parking areas. October snow operations can also trigger an announced overnight prohibition. Check the actual position and current notices.
Agree who clears and treats the private drive, landing and steps. A plowed road may leave snow at an entrance. Send changed conditions before dispatch, and confirm a usable receiving arrangement if the planned route is unavailable.
09 /
Plan the interval when keys or repairs are delayed
Discuss storage and later delivery before collection when the receiving home may be unavailable. Review the handling stages, expected dates, access to stored belongings and charges. Identify a contact who can confirm the later receiving date.
Keep interval essentials outside the shipment and arrange suitable accommodation and transport for the household. Furniture storage does not resolve where people stay or how they reach school, work or care.
10 /
Coordinate the transfer and the business restart
For a commercial move, label items by their receiving work area, name the building contacts and identify the tasks that must remain available. Review the order of a staged transfer, special equipment and the parts needing a separate specialist.
Arrange backups, disconnection and recommissioning with the responsible technical providers. Confirm when they can enter the property and which systems need to work first.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.
11 /
Keep one receiving contact and room plan
Send the usable approach, entrance and room placements to the person receiving. Clear the route and the rooms needed first. Keep the contact available when a changed condition needs a decision.
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
Check the shipment against the inventory and raise any concern through the agreed process. Confirm outstanding work before the responsible receiving person leaves.
12 /
Review shipment protection before collection
Identify high-value, delicate or unusual items early and review the written protection terms applying to your move. Keep the agreed inventory, estimate and handling instructions accessible through collection and delivery.
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.
13 /
Choose unpacking and disposal arrangements in advance
Decide which rooms need to work first, who unpacks the remaining cartons and where clean packaging can wait without blocking access. Keep anything to be removed distinct from belongings travelling.
The transfer station page links a material-specific brochure. Confirm current eligibility and the actual load before arranging a disposal trip; household collection rules do not automatically apply to a commercial removal. Ask separately about requested unpacking or packaging removal.

Choosing where to live?
Use the separate guide to compare homes, arrange school and daily journeys, confirm household connections and prepare for the first week.

Questions before you move
What should I send for a Lancaster moving estimate?
Send both full addresses, the inventory, possible dates, requested preparation and photographs of difficult items and access. Identify keys, packing or approvals still outstanding.
Does a Lancaster address reserve a street space for the truck?
No. Confirm the exact location, signs and responsible authority. The town ordinance contains prohibited positions and limited loading provisions; it does not grant a general moving-truck reservation.
How are basic assembly and packing materials charged?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Should furniture be emptied before wrapping?
Empty it, clear the top and remove loose shelves or inserts. Keep parts identified and agree dismantling and assembly for the actual item.
What if the receiving home is delayed?
Discuss storage and later delivery before collection, including timing, handling, access and charges. Keep interval essentials with the household and arrange accommodation and transport.
Can I request unpacking and packaging removal?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
