Movers in Greenland, NH
Sterling Oakbridge helps Greenland households and businesses with local and interstate moving, packing, storage and specialist services. Plan the work around your belongings, the properties and the date you can actually receive delivery.
01 /
Start with the move you need to make
A move into a Greenland house may involve a garage, an upstairs bedroom and a basement full of things that never appeared in the listing photos. A move out may begin with deciding what belongs in the next home. Walk through every space that is part of the job before treating the bedroom count as an inventory.
We can plan a local move, an interstate shipment or a move with storage between the two addresses. A household move and a business relocation need different sequencing; a piano, artwork or other specialist item may need its own assessment. Start with the destination you have, then identify anything that depends on a closing, repairs or another person handing over keys. If you are still comparing homes, the Greenland relocation guide covers the local questions that come before booking.
02 /
Choose the moving help you need
You can ask for help with the whole home or a defined part of the work. Think through who will pack, which furniture needs preparation, what should go into storage and what needs to be ready first at delivery. A garage, shed or home office belongs in that discussion even if its contents are separate from the living rooms.
Sterling Oakbridge provides local and interstate household moves, commercial moving, packing and storage. Choose the work you need, then let us review the inventory, access and timing for your estimate.
| Moving help | What we can include | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Local residential moving | Loading, transport, delivery and basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Both addresses, inventory, dates and the route through each property |
| Interstate moving | Pickup, transport and delivery arrangements, with storage when needed | Destination, date constraints and the person receiving the shipment |
| Commercial moving | Office and business furniture, equipment and agreed preparation, including moves with building restrictions | Business type, equipment list, building rules and the work schedule to protect |
| Packing and unpacking | Selected-item or full packing, preparation before move day and optional box unpacking | What you will pack and what you want us to prepare |
| Storage and staged delivery | Storage between addresses and an agreed receiving and delivery plan | Expected dates, contents and anything you need to access during storage |
| Designer and hotel furniture receiving | Receiving, storage and delivery of furniture to an agreed plan | Expected shipments, delivery instructions and the final receiving site |
If the move has stages, describe them together. Delivery into storage followed by a later shipment requires a plan for access to stored items and a separate confirmation of the receiving date. Keep the belongings you may need during the gap identifiable from the start.

Keep a business move workable
For a shop or office along the Route 33 corridor, review the actual receiving area and the hours when a vehicle can use it. Shared parking, customer access and a landlord’s delivery rules can matter even in a low-rise building. Moving a home office also deserves its own sequence if you need to work before the rest of the house is unpacked.
Identify workstations, shelving, records and equipment by destination. Decide who is responsible for disconnecting systems, retaining sensitive records and making essential equipment operational again. Agree what must be available on the first working day, and which part of the move can happen outside that window.
IT transport and disconnection are available; arrange reconnection and system startup with your IT team. Crane work is outside our service scope.
We can also quote island moves, recycling, move-out cleaning and car shipping. For an island destination, provide the exact address so the vehicle or freight crossing, receiving arrangements and final delivery can be reviewed together.

Review the full route from truck to room
Look at driveway length, slope and surface, then follow the proposed carry route through the garage or front entrance. A wide garage opening can still lead to a narrow door into the house. Measure tight turns, stair landings and overhead clearance against the largest pieces; a photograph of the room alone does not show whether a dresser can get there.
Ask the property owner to identify wells, septic components and surfaces that cannot take a vehicle. Keep the loading plan on suitable ground rather than assuming the yard is an extension of the driveway. Tell us about gravel, soft edges, low branches, shared lanes or unfinished construction before the vehicle is assigned. If driveway alterations are planned, review the town’s driveway application with the responsible office before the work begins.
We can coordinate building COIs, moving-truck permit arrangements, elevator scheduling and moves that require union labor. Send the building instructions and management contact early. We can also arrange materials and packing before the carrying window when the property permits that access.
The agreed plan should identify who submits each request, who approves it and which municipal or building charges apply. An application is one step; the required access and time still need confirmation.

05 /
Find a loading position that fits the property
A private driveway can be a useful place to load when it supports the vehicle and leaves enough room to work. Check the entrance, turning space, clearance at the rear and the route to the door. Confirm permission with the owner or manager, including on a shared drive; a wide paved area is not automatically available for the moving truck.
If the truck cannot stay fully on suitable private space, ask the Greenland Police Department which authority and permissions apply to the proposed road position. State routes and town roads may involve different owners. Confirm the proposed space and time before relying on a road position for loading. Send us the confirmed arrangement so we can assess whether a different vehicle position or another handling plan is needed.
Winter adds a separate check. Read the town’s posted winter parking ordinance and current notices before planning any overnight staging. The guide explains the documented seasonal restriction and the checks to make before the move.

Prepare the contents, not just the rooms
Choose full packing or selected-item help based on what you want completed. Separate the items that travel with you, the belongings to be moved and anything that stays. Books, linens and fragile kitchen contents need different cartons and preparation; a large box is not a substitute for a suitable one.
Garages and outbuildings need an inventory too. Identify tools, machinery, loose shelving and unusually heavy pieces, and ask about the preparation and acceptance requirements for those items. Keep disassembled hardware with the relevant furniture. Tell us about fragile surfaces or existing damage before packing begins.
Labor, materials and optional work
| Item or task | How it is charged |
|---|---|
| Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly | Part of your moving labor time, without a separate basic assembly fee |
| Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape | No separate charge for these basic protection materials |
| Boxes supplied for your move | Charged separately |
| Packing | Charged for working time; boxes are separate |
| Unwrapping furniture | Part of delivery |
| Unpacking the contents of boxes | Optional work, charged for working time |
| Packaging and waste removal | Charged separately |
| Complex furniture and other specialist work | Individually quoted after review |
Tell us which tasks you want completed and which materials you need. Your estimate should distinguish moving labor, boxes, specialist work and removal charges.
Specialist services by individual quote
| What needs attention | Work available for review |
|---|---|
| Complex furniture | Bunk beds, Murphy beds, large flat-pack wardrobes and specialist sofa disassembly and reassembly |
| Heavy items | Pianos and grand pianos, safes, gym equipment and pool tables |
| Art and collections | Fine-art handling, soft packing, custom crates and crating to an agreed museum or collection specification |
| Hanging and installation | Pictures, mirrors, wall-mounted TVs, curtain hardware and chandeliers, with the removal, installation and any technical work scoped separately |
| Business equipment | Office furniture systems, restaurant refrigerators and ranges, and industrial equipment assessed for the specific item and route |
Send photographs, dimensions, make or model where relevant, and the route through both properties. Describe exactly what needs to be taken apart, moved or installed. We review the method and required work before providing an individual quote.

Understand what the estimate covers
Local moves: estimated hours, not a fixed total
Most local moves are priced by working time. Your estimate sets out the hourly basis, any minimum hours and the work and materials to be charged separately. Estimated hours help us plan the crew and whether the work can fit the proposed day; they are not a maximum charge or a promise that the move will finish within that time.
A move estimated at six hours may take eight if traffic delays the truck, an elevator is shared rather than reserved, packing is unfinished or the inventory or plan changes. Tell us about changes early. If the work needs preparation on another day or a separate delivery stage, we will review those arrangements with you. Charging follows the written terms for the move.
Long-distance flat rates: the same scope, the same price
For a long-distance move quoted at a flat rate, the agreed price stays the same when the shipment and agreed work stay the same. Added belongings, omitted items, extra packing or changed access and delivery requirements can change the scope and price. Keep the inventory, packing responsibilities and pickup and delivery conditions in writing, and have additions reviewed before the affected work begins.
The practical variables include the amount being moved, packing work, stairs, the distance from the vehicle to the entrance and any storage or removal stage. A shorter drive between addresses does not eliminate the work inside each property. Where driveway access is uncertain, resolve it during the review so the estimate reflects the handling that will actually be needed.
Compare estimates against the same scope: the same belongings, preparation, access and delivery arrangements. Ask which materials and optional tasks are separate, and how a later change will be recorded. For an interstate shipment, the FMCSA consumer guide explains the federal paperwork and protections to review. Household expenses such as a transfer-station sticker or property alterations are separate arrangements with their own providers.

Agree the work, then keep the plan current
Direct and consolidated long-distance moving
Our direct long-distance service uses a dedicated truck and the same moving crew at pickup and delivery. For a suitable small shipment, ask about consolidated delivery with a wider agreed receiving window. We serve destinations throughout the United States and Canada. Confirm pickup, delivery and any storage stages in the written move plan. The planning team performs a separate role from the moving crew.
Before moving day, confirm who packs, which entrance is used, where the truck stands and when both properties are available. Tell the planner promptly if the inventory or access changes. Keep the agreed scope and any changes with your move paperwork so the crew and household are working from the same information.
Choose protection before the move
Discuss the basic liability option and higher protection available at an additional charge before moving day. Have the selected level, cost, limits and claims process recorded in your moving documents. Tell us about artwork and other high-value items in advance so their declared values and any special requirements can be reviewed.
For interstate household-goods moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you select Released Value through the required written waiver. Valuation is the mover’s level of liability; it is different from a separate insurance policy. Review the FMCSA explanation of liability and protection and the terms for your particular move.
09 /
Make the date workable at both addresses
For a winter move, arrange clearing and treatment of the driveway, steps and walking route before the crew arrives. Review the town’s snow-obstruction guidance when arranging where cleared snow will go. Check the forecast and local notices again near the date; a path cleared earlier can become unusable. Discuss what happens if a storm prevents safe access rather than assuming an alternative date is already reserved.
In wet weather and spring thaw, look again at unpaved drives and lawn edges before allowing heavy vehicles onto them. For any season, coordinate the move with the actual key handover, any building access window and the household commitments that cannot shift. Keep essentials accessible if delivery timing changes.
10 /
Give the crew a clear route and a useful first walk-through
Clear the agreed vehicle position and entrances. Keep documents, medication, chargers and immediate household essentials with you. Separate belongings that must stay, and identify rooms at the destination so similar boxes do not need to be moved twice.
At the first walk-through, point out the agreed route, fragile surfaces, items needing special handling and any change since the estimate. A furniture dolly needs a clear, level route and the right transition at each threshold; stairs and uneven ground need a different handling decision. Let the crew assess those transitions before a loaded piece reaches them.
If access or the handover slips, contact the planner as soon as the problem is known. Review waiting, rescheduling or storage and its effect on the agreed scope. The arrival checklist helps you keep the receiving household ready while that decision is made.

Tell us about your Greenland move
Let the scope determine the survey
A clear item list may be enough for a small, straightforward job. More belongings, full packing, specialist items or restricted access can call for a video review or an in-person visit. Floor area helps describe the property, but the contents and work matter too.
Start by sending what you know. Our move-planning team will recommend the right level of review so the estimate reflects the job. You do not need to choose a survey method or work out every measurement before contacting us.
The survey helps us choose staffing, time and preparation for the actual job. The person reviewing your move is not necessarily part of the moving crew.
For the review, gather both addresses, your preferred dates, an inventory or room-by-room outline, the work you want completed and any known access restrictions. Photographs of the driveway, garage-to-house door, stair turns and largest pieces help explain details that are hard to describe. Flag any uncertain closing or receiving date so it is part of the discussion.

Questions before you move
Can I book a move entirely within Greenland?
Yes. Sterling Oakbridge offers local moving as well as interstate shipments. Use the estimate section to describe the work and both properties; the available date and detailed plan are confirmed through that review.
Where can the moving truck stand?
Start by checking a suitable private driveway and permission to use it. If public-road space is needed, ask Greenland Police which authority and requirements apply. The absence of a permit page online does not establish permission to load there.
What if a storm or a delayed closing changes the date?
Tell the planner promptly and confirm the revised access situation. Waiting, rescheduling and storage are different arrangements; review the practical and cost implications before assuming delivery can proceed.
Do you move offices and home businesses?
Yes. Identify equipment, workstations and records, then agree access and the sequence required for the business to reopen. Arrange technical disconnection and setup responsibilities separately from carrying the items.
Does a long driveway affect the estimate?
It can. The usable truck position, surface, slope and carry distance affect handling. Show the full route during the review so the plan reflects the property you have.
Are basic furniture assembly and packing materials included?
Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly use your moving labor time without a separate basic assembly fee. Moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape have no separate material charge. Boxes are charged separately. Complex furniture and specialist work receive individual quotes.
Can you unpack boxes and remove packaging?
Furniture is unwrapped as part of delivery. We can also unpack the contents of boxes as optional work charged for time. Packaging and waste removal are charged separately; include the help you want in your request.
What should I do with furniture I am leaving behind?
Separate it from the moving inventory and choose an arrangement before the date. Check the town transfer station’s current acceptance rules and fees for self-haul, or ask for any removal work to be assessed and priced separately. Do not assume a resident disposal facility accepts a commercial moving load.
